KyoAni posted the PV for the Gaiden. It should be noted this isn't the movie. This is the Gaiden, an adaptation of a side story from the LN. The movie was supposed to be out in 2020, though we don't know if it's still on track or what. The Gaiden will premier next month.

Watched the gaiden. I must say, whoever wrote that rhyme Taylor was singing while on her delivery rounds is to be applauded. Cutest and most memorable way to learn alphabet I have heard so far.
BTW..... Postman uniform Violet is 10/10 love

Currently has an average user ratings of 4.66 out of 5 in yahoo movies japan. Not bad
Also, just realized this movie's duration is 2 hours 20 minutes. Which make this the 2nd longest kyoani movie after The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, which has a duration of 2 hours and 42 minutes. Last edited by iko_uwais; 2020-09-21 at 19:41. |

There are estimates that the film made 400 million yen box office in 3 days. As Monday and Tuesday are holidays in Japan, only the official number will be released on Wednesday, but apparently and what was expected the film was a success.

Watched it. That was amazing. Easily blows Kimetsu out the water for 2020 movies
The storyline is so well weaved, being that of a modern girl discovering Violet's story in terms of the legacy she left on the places she called home. The context and setting just makes the whole thing so poignant in that signature Japanese storytelling style of the venerable person/company that brought joy and warmth through the years. Direction is also top notch with all elements coming together nicely. And the plotline concludes nicely, wrapping up Violet's story and Gilbert's without any lose ends while the subplots with conveying your words to loved ones after you are gone just adds to the core theme overall But the real draw is in the....how to say....The....message it conveys. This is a romance that also dedicates a lot on the internal turmoil of both parties. It's redemption and gentleness and connects past and future with warmth. In short it is just so maternal. Truly Kyoani's best work to date I daresay. They put this out after the fire...... Such a beautiful work after that disaster. They easily have my respect and support forever after this.

For anyone wondering, this movie indeed is the finale. Staff interview with Taichi Ishidate and Evan Call says they planned it that way and left what happens to Violet after the movie up to the viewer's imagination. Also, interview talks a bit about script writer Reiko Yoshida. Really good story teller she is
Also this letter by the author after the marathon screening is so sweet https://twitter.com/Violet_Letter/st...695457283?s=19 And we get orchestral concert in Feb https://twitter.com/Violet_Letter/st...298732544?s=19
