Not series as such, but DEFINITELY very funny are basically any abridged series. Yu-gi-oh, Naruto, Haruhi, whatever! In english of course, but laughing at subtitles just doesn't give the same feeling

Good idea second that they are very funny generally, also of what I've seen best been Yu-gi-oh, Naruto, and DBZ.

School Rumble is my favorite comedy of all time too and I also dropped Ouran High and Lucky Star. So our taste in comedy might be pretty similar.

Azumanga Daioh, second best comedy ever.

Full Metal Panic Fumoffu, I recommend watching the first season first though. (which has some great comedic moments itself)

Irresponsible Captain Tylor, not as funny all the way through but still good.

gintama (rumbel subs are best for this)
kannagi
full metal panic (better if u watch 1st season first)

other animes ppl are listing here are funny (sayonara sensei, azumanga daioh) but made me chuckle rather than LOL

Thought I'd bump this... Any other recommendations? Currently watching Gintama. It has some LOL moments, but I'd like something else to watch since Gintama is fairly long and gets old if you watch it as a marathon, haha.

A lot of people say they didn't like School Rumble but I honestly thought it was freaking hilarious.

I'd say the only comedy I've watched that's made me laugh as much as School Rumble is Angel Beats.

Have you seen Needless? It has some seriously hilarious moments that happen quite often, just like Gintama.

Brilliantly funny anime.

Thanks, I'll see if I can watch an episode or 2 from those just mentioned sometime tonight.

I have seen a lot of Kodocha, but it got horrible towards the end. (I'm on episode 70 - something). Once she became a 7th grader, somehow the series went downhill and it only started focusing on Sana and ....the gray-haired kid.

Edit: Kamen no Maid Guy's plot sounds very similar to Hayate, lol.

It may sound the same, but boy are they different . Plus i'd say Kamen no Maid Guy's humor is the better one for laugh out load humor.

I think Arakawa Under the Bridge is hilarious. This is still an ongoing series. Not sure if anymore mentioned Lovely Complex. I think that was really funny, but not as funny as School Rumble.

I agree that the latter-middle of the show is not the greatest primarily because of the shift in character focus.

However, it returns to the awesome Kodacha formula afterwards at the end, so it'd be a shame to call it quits before then.

Already mentioned, but I support:
  • Azumanga Daioh - Still one of my favorite shows of all time
  • Full Metal Panic Fumoffu! - I actually saw this before the series, so it's not required to see the series first.
  • Minami-ke - first season
  • Samurai Champloo
  • Yakitate Japan!! - This show is seriously hilarious and also about a boy who bakes bread.

Added:
  • Hidamari Sketch - a bit softer and slower, but definitely funny
  • Kaichou wa Maid-sama - currently airing
  • Special A - Kinda reminds me of School Rumble in a way.
  • Bamboo Blade - Goofy kendo girls led by goofy kendo male coach
  • Full metal Alchemist Brotherhood - currently airing, but has a great blend of humor and seriousness
  • Hanamaru Youchien - looks cutesy, but give it a chance. This was a great find for this year.
  • Nodame Cantabile - Season 1 is the silliest and this is also one of my favorite series of all time.
  • Rozen Maiden

Cromartie High School, made me laugh my ass off, I highly recommend it
As well as Golden Boy and GTO, I prefer watching some anime in english, just cause it becomes that much funnier

Cromartie,surprisingly has a fantastic dub

Thanks for recommending Angel Beats. I just now finished watching it. Although it wasn't really a comedy, it really did have some hilarious moments. (Flying into the ceiling in slow motion with that sad song playing LOL). It was a good series, though somewhat confusing.

Lots of suggestions here... I'll finish Kodocha and Gintama off gradually. I'll probably check out that "Maid Guy" anime next, lol.

Full Metal Panic, especially the Fumoffu season. Trsust us, this one is funny. It's even funnier if you've ever watched old American war movies like Hamburger Hill or Full Metal Jacket.

You also might like Ranma 1/2.

Maybe also Baka to Test? That is, if you like silly humor. Several Yandere jokes thrown in too. I thought those were the funniest bits.
