I wonder how many songs this is gonna have... Also if they're doing this to just milk money or because they actually want to.
Season one seemed to be all moe-moe just for some attention whereas season two seems like they took it the direction they actually wanted to. |

I'm also really interested in the songs they'll make for it, maybe even more than the movie itself, haha. Always watched K-ON! for the songs than for the jokes themselves.
Anyway as for the actual movie itself, it's +1 vote here for a 1 hour live concert here with a 30 minute buildup to it. Or maybe without the buildup so you get the feeling you walked into a live concert instead of a cinema. Maybe even in 3D? Bwahaha. That would be so experimental and so unheard of and so probably not going to happen. As for the story, I hope for non-post high-school story, just something they did somewhere in between.

If they're doing it to milk the cash cow, then it's going to be a recap movie. There might be a few new concert scenes in there to enhance the merchandising opportunities (though new concert footage isn't strictly necessary. They could just release new songs on the movie soundtrack.)
A recap movie with lots of moe gags would certainly bring in the otaku and encourage them to spend money on more overpriced merchandise, as it'd be a safe love-letter to the fans. There wouldn't be the potential of offending anyone like a movie with at least 50% original content would (<"Liek OMG, the girls aren't in their uniforms/my waifu has a boyfriend??? I'm going to burn down Kyoto Animation's HQ and then hang myself. Life is not worth living!"> -- future 2ch post translated from Japanese.) The reader might go "But wait, didn't they do a good job with the Haruhi movie?" My answer is "The Haruhi movie was based off a small (albeit important) canon story, and KyoAni took so few risks that not only did they leave nothing out, but they padded the story with a bazillion hours of scenery porn. It's a three-hour-long love letter to the fans . . . it's a reason to have low expectations for a K-On! movie." Who knows. They might prove me wrong. They might be willing to take a risk and fully explore a K-On-iverse story outside of the comfortable confines of the Sakura High School Light Music Club. Goodness knows there's a lot of post-high-school stories that could be told about the girls that would have some dramatic bite and general-audience appeal, but would also allow for cute slice-of-life/friendship/bonding/Mugi-vsion moments and lots of trademark KyoAni scenery porn.

The last thing I want out of the movie is a recap. I could accept the movie taking place before the end of the series, but only if the plot covers something that we haven't already seen in the TV series.
That being said, I would prefer a movie that takes place after the TV series rather than before. It would be nice to see some college stuff and perhaps some third year stuff from Azusa as well. As for the plot, I think we won't see anything overly dramatic. Ie we're not going to discover that Yui started doing drugs in college. That Mio killed Ritsu in a jealous rage because Mugi was hitting on her.

As long as they don't do an "Kimagure Orange Road The Movie" slap in the face (IE. Have them come back years later to have their friendship broken), I won't need to go to the Warhammer 40000 universe to sharpen my chainsword....
...but considering the 40K universe dosen't exist, I'll settle for my diesel powered gardening chainsaw instead.

Anyone seen this poster yet?
Lines like "movie confirmed", "jump to tomorrow", "try the future", "good luck Azunyan, this is the future of Sakura High Light Music club" and the long text at the bottom (with a quote from the series producer) all seem to hint at the possibility that the movie will be about Azusa's club (with Ui and Jun officially joining, same as in the manga). |

Heh-heh.
And yet another poster ("is this a farewell? no, the movie has been confirmed") with character for "light" in "light music club" replaced with character for "finished/expired/over" (on Yui's shirt) and the interview with the series producer at the bottom seems to hint that the movie will have the original 4 in college and continuing the "After School Tea Time" somehow. Both posters could be red herrings though (or they could both be right?). |

Azusa's taken Ton-chan home before. Ton-Chan might stay with her...or if the Light Music Club continues (via their likely fouth+ member), stay at Sakura High for many years to come...or however long one of his species lasts.

I do wonder about these posters, though. Do you know what the source is? Are they official at all? |

Do a timeskip! Get Azusa with them, It's just not K-On without Azusa with them. I can't watch the episodes before Azusa was there anymore, it's just too weird. Houkago Tea Time needs their rhythmn guitarist, I don't want her not be with the four of them. I'd love it if they just focused on all of Azusa's holidays where she goes to stay with them, like they could have Christmas again, their summercamp, festivals and stuff. |
