Yes but Kurisu clearly has some kind of recollection of Okabe's struggles to save Mayuri, so it may not necessarily apply exclusively to themselves but it works just like Okabe's "Reading Steiner" except the memories are very fuzzy and dream-like rather than having a clear memory of what happened in other time lines.

I don't really know how I felt about this episode. I loved it on one hand, but the thought that Makise will probably be revived in 2 episodes puts me off a bit. Everything that happened in this episode will go to waste if that happens. So yeah, I know I may be going against the current, but I am seriously hoping that Makise stays dead by the end of this series.
Plus, was there any indication that she is actually dead in this timeline? Or maybe Okabe went to a timeline where Makise is still alive and makes something(possibly a time machine) which leads to a world war. And now Okabe has to go back and kill her using Suzuha's time machine. That will explain how there were 2 Okabe in the first episode. But why would he need to go to past to kill her? Maybe she did something at radio hall that needs to be undone. Aaaargh I am confused :scratches head:

The anime is working off of one of two notions, in my view:
1. There are a multiple (possibly infinite) number of alternate timelines. Each person is to some degree "in tune" with all of their alternate timeline selves. Enough so that they can have very vague, hazy memories and dreams of events that happened to their alternate timeline selves that never happened to their own timeline's self. Okabe's Reading;Steiner ability amplifies this greatly, perhaps because he's the one who has been directly causing most of the timeline shifts. You could think of it has him creating a thread connecting himself to every timeline that he's been in and jumped to. That thread in turn is amplifying things for those that come in contact with it - basically, Okabe's fellow lab members. 2. There is only one true timeline, and the invention (and use) of D-Mails, time leaps, and bodily time travel is causing it to constantly shift. The people causing these shifts are aware of those shifts to varying degrees, due to how they're the ones causing (directly or indirectly) them. The more shifts are caused, the more the people involved in them sense the previous timelines (the ones that have been "wrote over"). Personally, I'm comfortable with either of these explanations. Kurisu is clearly more comfortable with the first, for obvious reasons, and I do see her point there.

Considering the fact that saving Mayuri involved undoing ever D-mail Okabe ever sent, including the one that for some reason managed to change the timelines and save Kurisu, it's safe to assume that in this timeline Kurisu is doomed to die unless it's changed again.

Wow, best episode I've seen in a long while!10/10.
The development between Okabe and Kurisu has been built up nicely throughout the series, so this episode didn't feel rushed at all. It seems they are really meant for each other. I hope Okabe finds a way to save Kurisu. He will surely try, since we know that Kurisu met an 'Okabe' before the Okabe we followed in episode 1 even saw her. 'a few minutes ago you tried to tell me something, right?' Let's see how everything plays out.

Characters went through hardship and struggle for a result that is absolutely against the current flow. It isn't like saving a certain character makes the previous scenes wasted or nonsensical. All of this plight had a meaning and was a catalyst for such change, and it isn't like Okabe didn't get enough troubles for the desired result. I seriously don't see how all of this went to waste considering all the shit it happened to them. Steins;gate isn't the only series dealing with saving characters from a certain doom after many loops filled with trial and errors, tragedies, miracles etc and just like the these other series (I'm not going to mention them since it would spoil them for a lot of people. Please do not mention them either), regardless if it is due to science or magic, a character brought back this way -does not- nullify all the hardship they went through. Otherwise, that's like saying that Okabe saving Mayuri wasted her death as well.

at first, when the credits rolled, I was disappointed that Suzuha wasn't there to create the cliffhanger, but it was great that she did at the end after all. and now on with the true route end, and most VNs with a TRUE ROUTE as opposed to the multi-branch types tend to have an almighty heroine.

But does the same apply to Makise's case? We don't have 10 episodes like in Mayuri's case and doing something like that again will be boring anyway. I'll be happy if they do something equally exciting in just 2 episodes, but I really doubt it. All I am saying is that saving Mayuri was the major plot till now, and the part where Okabe had to do something about choosing between Makise and Mayuri was something many of us were looking forward to, and now when all of that is over, adding a new direction to the plot may not be a good thing and if they don't do it right, it may cause all of what happened in this episode(except the confessing part, since she will probably remember it due to her reading steiner) to go to waste. So what I am really afraid of here is that this show pulling a deus ex machina ending in 2 episodes which will make me feel that episode 22 should have been the last episode of steins; gate. Or maybe I am feeling negative because of one other series which did the same thing with it's ending.

We have the luxury to do this kind of critic because we are the watcher. Remember what John Titor said, there are diverging timelines, one where someone lives, the other where that someone is dead. Okarin leaping or Dmailing is NOT going to invalidate any of it. The problem will be in Present Okarin's POV, who have GONE THROUGH EVERYTHING. It left in him psychological and emotional scars that you seem to not have considered. People who easily and hastily criticize time travel stories have a tendency to forget that part.
Okarin himself have admitted it, he have seen Mayurii dying so many times that he have grown numb from the experience. Also, this (although not appliable to anyone in steins, gate, excepted maybe Suzuha) http://www.cracked.com/article_18564...-us-about.html |

If you think that "other series" was pulling a DEM then you probably wasn't paying enough attention while watching the previous episodes.
