No ero-favorites, here. Not familiar enough with it as a whole.

edit: just a quick and minor correction: It's Nee, Chanto Shiyou Yo!, which more or less means 'Sister, do it properly!', being fairly literal |

Yep, exactly my thoughts. Kinda the same as eroge adaptations into anime (the non-ero anime ones that is), I basically never bother watching them any more because the games are so much better (plus you can choose the girl you WANT to win, whereas the anime always seems to go for the worst possible choice).

The only ero-game with any substance that I've managed to finish has been Snow Sakura, so I can't really make any comparisons with anime adaptations. I've gone up to day 4 in the FSN VN (Saber's path) and have been impressed with it. Still undecided if I want to see Saber "in that way" after seeing her portrayed in such a noble, wholesome manner in the anime. But, I am intrigued by the greater depth of the story so I'll probably continue on with it.

Note I said 'don't watch any more' Some older stuff like ToHeart was great at the time, and Key's works are some of my favourites (clannad in particular is one of my absolute favourite shows of the last few years or more, though Clannad has no ero content so I don't really count it in this case), but those are exceptions. The vast majority of eroge adaptations are utter crap though.

Using "ero" for it would be a re-importing of broken engrish. Why do you think English borrowed those terms in the first place? People wanted an original term for japanese drawn porn - and there's absolutely no need to abandon them for a generic "erotic". So renaming this thread to "ero anime" would be a mistake. Quote:

Yes, but this is a forum for enthusiasts of a medium that originates in Japan. Learning the "lingo" is part of the fun of getting into that originating culture.
I guess it's a matter of how much of an enthusiast you consider yourself to be and how much of the anime/manga sub-culture you care to absorb.

On topic, no love for Moonlight Lady? In my time, I've also "enjoyed" titles like Body Transfer, Sora no Iro, Mizu no Iro and all the hentai OVAs based on the works of Seto Yuki, such as Stringendo, Accelerando and Stringendo & Accelerando Ultimatum Sera. List goes on, but those are the ones that I remember really impressing me for detail, animation and... well, the rest of things people enjoy in hentai. Good times. Hentai is just like anime or any other medium... 90% of it is crap, but the rest is worth dying for/fapping over.

Hentai rules! Hardcore hentai fanboy, right here! ^_^
What about things like "Strawberry Panic!"? Like..soft Yuri although more of a slice of life at the same time. I remember seeing part of one yuri-themed movie where there was this new girl in school that was quite lonely and had one friend. Then one day they were both on the roof and her new friend started playing with her, she was like "No! Not there!", but then after the fumbling, coressing, and the stroking they just done it hardcore yuri style. Don't ask me what it is called though like other people do. Because if I knew, trust me, I would be looking for it again! XD |

As far as how the word is used, I know of one example for certain that stuck in my mind. In Sola when two of the girls sitting in the cafe, one of them had been distant because of the events of the story and the other said she was being "hentai." I clearly heard that. She obviously hadn't been looking at porn, so the implication was that she was simply "acting strange." As one trying (slowly... very slowly) to learn the language, I'm keen on the differences. Anyhow, I'll keep some of the recommendations being given here in mind to expand my knowledge of the subject matter.

I loved the artwork and the character designs, but I didn't like the story or the characters. I found many of the actions of the characters to be distasteful on a level I can't quite describe.
I felt much the same way while watching Touka Gettan. They just didn't suit my tastes. Some adult anime have pretty good artwork, but they need other good attributes beside the artwork to have a permanent impact on me. |
