I have to disagree with this. State Alchemists are required to hand in their research findings yearly and obtain good results or else their status as State Alchemists is revoked.

Right! It would be interesting if they showed us what Roy does for his research. We've never seen him doing anything of the like before. What more would there be to research on his flame alchemy, though? Can't get much more precise or destructive than that...

Indeed.

If you can't die, then I will just kill you till you DIE!!!

Awesome. Manliness...

Loll, it is pretty obvious that the Hawkeye - Mustang thing is love, from the manga or the original anime.

People like Roy, Armstrong are just muscle that were instrumental during the Ishval war. But with things largely peaceful now, they've been relegated to pencil pushing jobs.

Well things are not exactly peaceful. There are a lot of border conflicts with neighboring countries. Before Roy was moved to Central he was stationed in East City which was one of the more unstable areas (lots of terrorist attacks and so forth).

Yeah, but nothing to the extent that called for his genocidal skills.

The Homunculi? I think they effectively brought Roy back into action.

I'm dying to see some more Roy in the final arc of the manga. Wonder if they'll give him a fight so close to the Envy battle.

I just read Roy's section over again in the character guidebook, and there was a part on Madame Christmas... Apparently she's his aunt, on his father's side. It also says that Roy's parents died when he was little, and Chris took him in - was that mentioned anywhere in the manga? It makes me wonder about Roy's past. Wonder if we'd ever get any more backround information - maybe not, since it's not all that important for his character. I'm still curious.

Yes most of this is mentionned in chapter 87.

Madame Christmas is awesome enough to be Roy's real mother. Even though she isn't. But yeah.

his "powers" are kind of lame. He can make crap explode, seperate hydrogen and oxygen from water and he can probably vibrate particles to create heat... why does he limit himself to just playing with fire?

Why does he save his most powerful stuff when his regular fire techniques fail?

I don't particularly know what other techniques you'd like him to use. After all, his Alchemy is meant for combat and he's in the military. He probably saves his best stuff because Roy himself isn't the type to kill people unless he really has to. I wouldn't call his powers lame when they have the greatest destructive power out of all the alchemists we've seen to this stage, apart from Kimbley

Disagree.... Kimbley's powers are almost undoubtedly weaker than Mustang's, even with a philosopher's stone.

Kimbley strikes me as a low level alchemist, personally.

Kimbley's far from being a low-level alchemist. I'd personally rank him up there with Mustang or Armstrong. It's just that he's more of a hands-on kind of guy like Scar and equally deadly.

I really, really disagree.

Spoiler for manga spoilers. You have been warned:

Anyways, we're getting off topic.

MUSTANG!

Spoiler for big image episode 19 of brotherhood:

I just want to point out that your being unfair to Kimbley here.
Spoiler for manga:

He fought equally with Al and traded blow for blow with him.

It was Heinkel that did the deed.

This is a Roy topic, peoples...

Anyways... I've been wondering what Wrath and the Father have planned for him. I mean, they must have something in mind, right?

And nice pic, GaimeGuy. BONES sure seemed to have had fun with Roy's abs in episode 19. Pure fangirl stuff, lol. Not that I'm complaining...
