In the first novel, when Koizumi is introduced, Mikuru is pretty much struck dead by his looks, tries to get up from the desk to introduce herself properly, falls over, and Koizumi rushes over to pick her up, upon which she stares glowingly at him.
It was also animated as one of the extra scenes on the DVDs. |

I checked the yen press website today on the blog entry today it's says that the first volume of the manga will be released in October and will have a sneak peek of the first book.
I was happy to hear this because the little brown website has nothing about the series on it and from what i can gather there hasn't been alot of news other than it was licensed i kind of thought that maybe they weren't going to release it. so it's good to here that at least part of the book has be translated. and on a side note how much has the manga adapted from the books? |

The manga actually follows the books a little more closely than the anime did. For example, a LOT of Kyon's metaphors and references were left in, such as the ongoing theme of Haruhi's quest for paranormal things being like The Bluebird of Happiness (i.e. it's closer than you realize), or his likening Adult Mikuru's sending him on missions to an RPG.

Yep. Still no clue what the hell they're holding back the novel so long for though. Even if you have a limited number of translators it isn't as if there isn't already a rough translation to check with. Pretty curious but at least they seem serious about introducing LN to a broader audience, unlike some people who half-assed it.
