A good fight between our two heroines to signify the start of their bond and friendship. Vivio may of lost but she made Einhart put out some actual effort and got in some good hits too. A good first three episodes, I"ll look forward to more.

So Einhart in her adult form defeats Vivio in their fight. Can't say I'm surprised by that. Otherwise, I think the two are actually getting along well. Hope for a good friendship between the duo~

Einhart has trained most of her life with the sole purpose of trying to fulfill Claus' desire to become strong enough to protect what is important to him, and she received his memories and basic fighting skills as her Belkan heritage. Vivio simply took up martial arts because she enjoyed it and with some vague thoughts of someday being able to protect the people who had protected her, but with no clear plan of how to do so. There simply isn't a comparison between them: Einhart has more experience and training and talent than Vivio in every way. That's not an insurmountable barrier, but right now Einhart is clearly the better fighter.
In other news I was delighted to see the hooded individual in Einhart's dream. No talky about why, at this point.

Correct, they replaced the dream with a different one, but it's still a flashback that fits fairly well with the established knowledge from the manga. I am simply glad to see that person. I am not discussing why, or relentlessflame will get delete-happy on my posts again.

That was quite a good episode!
Excellent final match between Vivio and Einhart especially. I am really enjoying Mamiko Noto's VA acting here as Einhart, and Vivio comes across as a sweet, honest kiddo. I like what the series has been doing thus far. Hopefully it can continue and up its game as well. ^^

As others have said, good ep. And while the animation and other factors have changed, and the story's gotten a lot more fleshed-out, this season feels very nostalgic. For all the differences in their backgrounds and abilities, this seriously feels like Nanoha and Fate all over again. You have the girl surrounded by friends and loved ones who doesn't entirely know what she wants to do with her life, and whose nurturing environment gives her the freedom to take her time deciding; and then you have the loner girl with all sorts of issues giving her constant internal conflict and pain, who feels that her path and purpose had been decided for her and that she has no choice but to do everything she can to fulfill a set of goals that aren't entirely her own. You have that sudden look in the innocent's eyes as she gazes at the troubled one that says she's already captivated by what she sees there. Then you have her try to get through to her with combat. The only difference I see is that

Yeah, Fate didn't get hit by Nanoha even once during their first two fights. Einhart had more difficulty vs. Vivio (She got punched in the face and seemed surprised by how well Vivio was fighting in her adult form)during their second fight then Fate did during her second fight with Nanoha.
Although while Einhart and Vivio have some similarities to Nanoha and Fate there is differences too. Vivio is pretty similar to Nanoha in personality, but Einharts backstory is quite a bit different from Fate. She has a different motive and an agenda. Where Fate was being forced to fight because of an abusive mother, Einhart wants to fight because of memories from her ancestor. Vivio and Einhart are already friends despite Vivio still being unable to defeat her. Also, Vivio doesn't NEED to defeat Einhart because it wont lead to a bad end if she fails to. But it's something Vivio set her mind to and something that will help Einhart lighten up. I guess you could say it's more lighthearted. Last edited by Alastoryagami; 2015-04-19 at 03:17. |

And formally speaking, it seems that what Einhart was doing doesn't seem to be an outright crime - since no reports were lodged against her formally speaking (again, I might be wrong here). Of course, until she attacked Nove, which, probably counts as attacking a TSAB Official. My interpretation of Einhart's actions, was that Einhart was on some level crying out for attention. But yes, Einhart probably would fit in with the TSAB well. Once she stabilizes psychologically - I don't think she's that mentally sound right now, given her issues with her ancestor's memories. |

I know there are some major differences between Nanoha's first encounter with Fate and Vivio's with Einhart; Nanoha was a total beginner who'd only known about magic for at most a couple weeks (don't remember) and had no choice but to fight Fate both to communicate and to stop her, while Fate was desperately trying to please her mother. Vivio on the other hand has plenty of experience, but currently has no reason to need to fight anyone, while Einhart's inner demons are far different and focused on satisfying an ancient ancestor's memory. That said, the central relationship seems strikingly similar. The details, as mentioned, are different, but the characters constructed are ultimately remarkable in their similarities, especially the similarity of their relationships. Also, concerning Einhart's goals and the reason she's picking fights rather than joining the TSAB, the latter doesn't really seem to fit all that well with her central goals. Her threefold goal includes becoming as strong as she can, finding a way to bring about a lasting peace, and most immediately important, finding the inheritor of the ancient Sankt Kaiser and proving the Hegemon's superiority to the other Belka-age. The first two can be fulfilled well by TSAB, but not the third. A military or peacekeeping organization is not that conducive to the task of proving a single individual's personal superiority, nor to picking no-holds-barred fights against people based on their heritage without regard to their actions or intentions.
