She's like that from the beginning. All that smug is just a facade. Watching her flashback, or her entrance at the first episode would give you an idea that she's a kind of weak girl putting on a strong face.

You know Hibiki's gonna kick some ass when her wife is finally 100% in support of her actions.
For being a complete asshole, Ver has an incredible talent for making himself necessary to other people. I can't count the number of times that saved him already. Though in this case, Hibiki probably wanted to save Maria from killing somebody for revenge, since that would be one tough burden for a kind girl like Maria, no matter how justified her rage seems at the moment.

Watched the eleventh episode about three days ago.
Pretty much, it doesn't sound like a bad idea for Ver becoming the Last Action Hero on Earth and picking up a bunch of girls of his choosing with the sole idea of fathering the new human race, that eventually will look at him as the Hero who repopulated back the world after Operation Moonfall took place. The problem is that he's a sick, f***ing bastard standing over the edge of tresspassing the Event Horizon moral trope, and once he falls there then his elimination will become a much needed retribution. Now, Maria, I'm honest to say that the other users have already expressed it, is one word useless. The brave facade was fun until it lasted; never I'm going to forget the start of this season's fourth episode. She's supposed to wallow in self-pity witnessing that her lack of conviction literally made her to let Ver did as he pleased. But, enough of that! Reading all your posts for the twelfth episode, I'm looking forward to the conclusion Shirabe vs. Kirika and Tsubasa vs. Chris. And, Hibiki? Well, our girl is beefing up her HAXX mode for the final boss confrontation. |

I'm pretty sure Miku's role was never meant to be part of the team. She represented the normal life Hibiki could return to. Keeping her Gear would mean losing that.
I can't remember where I heard that, though. Admittedly, the writing for this is crappy. Or at least bizarre. Last edited by Shyni; 2013-09-21 at 13:48. |

That only works if the writers know how to give enough focus to that normal life, and they obviously don't. That's why Miku felt totally irrelevant during this season. She only got some focus when she was using her gear. If the writers really wanted her to represent normal life, they're doing it wrong.
