Shelved for a LONG time in the best of cases. He was its director and animator. This wasn't like a Disney production that parts can be swapped out. RWBY was Monty's work above all.

They'll probably either shelve the show for awhile or cancel it altogether I'd imagine. Oum was the one who created RWBY, right?

He created it, he designed it, and he animated it to a degree I think, so I really can't imagine anyone at Rooster Teeth is thinking they can somehow replace those tasks with someone else and feasibly produce the "right show" as Oum intended it.

I'm certain it's canceled.

Well that depends. If Monty Oum already had rough drafts of how it would end then his colleagues could feesably step in to finish his work, Wheel of Time style. But it would obviously be a very personal decision between them.
