Any guess at what he might have done? He hasn't done too much character animation IIRC, he does a lot of FX (and very good ones) but there wasn't anything of the sort in here.

The scene at the beginning with Yui cracking up at potatoes had pretty nice animation, esp. when Aikawa came in. The layout work was superb as always too, I like how they (ab)use deep compositions and unusual camera angles.

The episode was a bit disconnected in script; that's to be expected of 4koma adaptations, but normally they start to come into their own and progressively get more and more organic. The previous episode was getting at that, but this one was pretty much a compilation of gags. Hopefully we get a more focused entry later on. One of those typical "drama" episodes would be really nice (like YRYR 11).

I thought ep 5 made it very clear Yukari gets treated differently by Yui compared to Yuzoko at all times. Because Yukari is just more cute, while Yuzoko is more smart yet crazy .

Also I was greatly amused by the potato scene, mitsu/secret scene, and Okano defending her "claim" to Aikawa.

Well, Yukari is a princess, so it can't be helped if she doesn't know any better. Yuzuko, on the other hand, only pretends not to get how society works.

I just noticed that this anime gives Subtle fanservice(I guess you can call it that?)
with out the Generic ''Panty shot from an impossible Angle''

Like at ep 6 where they were staring outside the window, and when they went to the teachers house.

I am really impressed with this show, it's not just all silliness but it's got a good atmosphere to it too, quite artistic. I'll import this show, as it's the best comedy/slice of life I've seen in awhile. Slice of life of the year so far. Hope it gets another season! There's very few shows I like as much as Yuyushiki with ongoing source material that didn't get a second season. Hyakko's the only show I can think of, hopefully Yuyushiki gets more attention!

No idea. As you said rapparu mainly excels in FX (he did some effects in Muromi-san) and the only FX was the snowflake hitting the ground lol. He probably learnt animating characters but it's probably too hard to find amongst all these young animators. The window layout was sure beautiful.

Regarding the joke, I am assuming this is from the same roots as "himitsu" = "secret".

I remember that from one of the Nadia omake, where one character said her three sizes were "hi-mi-tsu".

There seems to be a kanji with this reading used in various kanji compound words having to do with secrecy, closeness, or intimacy. (P.S. "密")

I love how everyone thinks they're a weird group XD Poor Yui is being plumped together with Yukari and Yuzuko, but she brought it upon herself for laughing at the word potato and encouraging Yuzuko

They sneakily place in their fan service, but it's not really that bad in terms of ecchi But with that with scene with Mom sensei giving them the tea, I admit that I wasn't looking anywhere else but as the service because it was something I noticed
