Might be even worse actually though I'm not sure if it is. But one thing I'm sure of is that my interest in anime has surely waned since then (I use to watch 10+ series a season back then, this year I didn't even finish 10 though I did try a fair bit but ended up dropping them). Hopefully 2015 is a better year though I'm probably most likely going to keep my "low completion" count as the years go by. At the very least, winter 2015 is already better than winter 2014, which btw was the worst winter season I've faced since watching anime seasonally. I know it's not going to win because of the absurd overflow of F/SN fans, but it briefly made me a bit sick in the stomach to see Aldnoah.Zero in the top 4 nominations for best ongoing series. Also, it'd be nice if more people watched Kaguya-hime no Monogatari before the voting phase ends. I know it looks completely different from the super-kawaii or sharp-and-edgy stuff you guys are used to, but this is a phenomenal film, especially on an animation level. |

I'm surprised Shigatsu didn't make the cut but Aldonoah Zero did. For now it seems like Shirobako is winning but I'm sure with time FSN is going to win due to its sheer popularity. I don't have too much against FSN but I definitely do not think it's the best ongoing show (maybe 4th or 5th or so). It's definitely below Shirobako/Parayste and possibly even Shigatsu/Akatsuki no Yona for me. It's just... less engaging than Fate Zero was, in particular the servants and the main summoners other than Rin.
I'm hoping Ping Pong and Mushishi wins some of the categories (and the best TV series) since they deserve it. Sorry Hunter x Hunter fans I never got past the Hunter Exam arc because I got really bored so I have no idea how great that anime is  .I'm going to be really sad if Nagi no Asu Kara wins drama and/or romance because frankly it's a piss poor romance anime imo and there are far better drama choices. In general this year has been terrible for romance. Nothing that comes even remotely close to White Album 2 of 2013. As for Love Live, I have no idea how it propped up so high. From the little episodes I saw it just seemed like another fluffy idol show but hey what do I know . Pretty sure the only idol show I've liked in recent times is Wake up Girls, but that show was far from being free of problems.

Kaguya hime no monogatari was indeed absolutely stellar. I just finished it a few days ago and wow, Ghibli/Takahata sure went out with a bang before closing their studio. Best anime film I've watched since Wolf Children and Takahata's best since Only Yesterday, which is one of my two favourite Ghibli films (the other is Grave of the Fireflies). Too bad it was nominated for such few categories because I could have easily voted it for in competition with Mushishi for fantasy and Ping Pong for drama.

In any case, glad to see Chisaki and Nagi no Asukara being there for more than one category. Also given that it aired one year ago. IIRC it ended as best ongoing series of the past year. Romance was the most contended category together with Ongoing series, and I prefer NnA kind of subdued and pained romance to a more straight one like Ao haru Ride, that in any case was the hidden gem of this year for me, romance wise. Instead about the ongoing series, I'm liking all the series listed, but A/Z is the only one really exciting for me. Sorry  Not be displeased to PAW series or Rin and UBW to win either.

Shigatsu was my pick for ongoing series but didn't make the cut, glad to have my avatar character at least in the nominations, sad to be unable to vote best tv series but I have seen none of those. NagiAsu imho didn't have great romance and deserves more for drama, I voted Ao Haru Ride as romance because it was excellent in what it did, particularly characters' interactions. It was too short and inconclusive though so unless it gets more seasons it'll remain an unfinished product. Have not seen Ping Pong but for beating top notch shows like Haikyuu and Baby Steps it must be really good.

Yea it wasn't a great year, but I did find several series that I rather enjoyed alot, I even found a couple I unexpectedly liked alot like Mikakunin de Shinkoukei and Nagi no Asukara, seriously when I saw the summaries for both I didn't expect much
