I can think of a simple reason for the taboo against its use. It prevents the guardians from being tempted to use the power of the sword for evil themselves.
Today, they use it to drive away a power-hungry warlord. Tomorrow, they might decide the best way to "protect" the sword is to use it carve a mighty empire around them. And that would lead to the destruction of the sword to destroy the empire. |

Preview for Ep4 is out with Taiwanese narration.
I'll try to make a translation if few people request for it

Love the banter between the characters in this series, the way the lines are phrased is like watching a stage play.
Laughed at when the demon lady was going on how bad Gui Niao was in bitterness as their split. "You could search the depths of the demon realm for a villain like you, and come up empty handed" lol, course it might be taken literally the more we learn about him, but in context of a relationship quarrel, its hilarious

I'm especially impressed with the production staff's attention to detail. Here's a simple example that caught my eye in episode three. Around 13:40 during the conversation about the sword between Shang and Dan Fei, there's a scroll on the wall behind them. Rather than simply let it hang there and decorate the scene, the staff animated it with puffs of air as if soft breezes were blowing through the room. They didn't need to do that, but their fanatical devotion to their art shines through.

some behind the scene footage. The fire from Lin is real, and it's fun seeing the staff throwing those Kei Gai's ribbons around, not to mention the table flipping when Ren Ki is up against Setsu Mu Syo. Edit: never mind the video got taken down

The assassin is making a reasonable demand; he wanted Rinsetsua dead. Consider what we know about Rinsetsua, his demand is likely fully justified. And viewing from that context, could he truly be considered an antagonist?

The poem this time should be fun to translate, got many interpretation options already.
The biggest issue with translating Wuxia series though is their over reliance on the term Jianghu, which has no good English equivalent.

Many thanks for the youtube version @Hata
Episode was great as always. Definitely one of my top 3 anticipated episodes every week. Won't deny the complaints that actual battle coreography has been more sparse, however in my eyes the "battle politics" and deviant tactics that always happen in stories like this are way more appealing and put a happy grin on my face whenever they happen. In that regard the episodes haven't disappointed in the least. Can you elaborate on your thoughts on the term?

Can't quite call it Wild East, because there are a lot more rules.
Well, he is right, there is no English equivalent. Basically its a perspective of society, culture, politics, government and norms from the point of view of someone involved in the "underworld/mafia" while adhering to a different set of standards from social norms when dealing with members of the same profession. - Tak
