Itasha (cars with anime graphics)

I did a search using "titles" and didn't find any. I think it deserves it's own thread 'cuz they are just TOO COOL!

The otaku craze of decorating cars with large graphics of anime characters.

Here are a few galleries I found for starters:

Gigazine article.
Mainichi Daily News article.

What I want:
Spoiler:

What I can afford:
Spoiler:

Does anyone have, or know of galleries that have, hi-rez images of some of these cars?

Not sure if you've seen the Macross Frontier Itasha that raised quite an uproar: http://fullmoepanic.wordpress.com/20...across-itasha/

Search the Macross Image thread with 'Itasha' and you'll find more pics on it.

The owner of the Itasha is a Macross F project employee who recently became news again when he got pulled over by police who thinks he's selling something illegal with that van lol

I've seen a few of them, but none in real life. Where I live, anime and manga are like flying pigs. Though I doubt I would ever put one on my car, maybe as a plate tag.

Well... Itasha are nothing more than decals, without the panties...

Itasha in real life?

In Singapore, I've only seen Super Mario, Hello Kitty and I think a Pikachu car.

Your latter 2 links refer to the event "Ita-G Festa". The expo of Itasha in Tokyo Odaiba at November 9th. They say nearly 500 Itasha gathered in Odaiba.

Here are other article about "Ita-G Festa". 6 pages of photos of Itasha.

Wow... very nice! Thank you.

If only they could have used a larger size than 640x480.

Hmmm.... I'm thinking I want a Little Busters anime.

She's a good looking character. That hood image is here. Sasami is such a sassy name. Nice character promotion, I hadn't seen her before.

Has anyone considered doing an Ita-laptop? Certainly much cheaper than a car, more feasible for most people here. And I've seen a few people around my campus with custom decals on their laptops. Nothing anime related though...it would be pretty damn pimp to sit down at the student lounge, take out my laptop to work on my paper, proudly displaying my awesome Strike Witches pin-up tricked out laptop (Perrine theme? or Erica theme?)

The question is, do you make it so the image is right-side-up when the laptop is closed, or open? (I've seen people do it both ways)

Interesting idea. I never even knew you could get skins for laptops.

I did some looking around. Here are some anime ones (click the images to see them on a laptop):

http://www.designerskins.com/skins/dlinsanime/

At skinit.com you can make custom ones.

I'm hardly surprised the driver of the Macross van got pulled over by the cops. If nothing else I'd think it was liable to cause accidents by distracting other motorists!

"Import tuner" rice is one thing, but when you start slapping on anime-styled decals on your car? This just shows that Americans can be beat in the field of excess...

If it weren't so damn embarrassing, I'd rock that shit too...If my artwork wasn't so sketchy, I'd probably do the same using my artwork, kind of like the BMW Art Cars, but without the "art"...

These are definitely done by professional artists. However, do people actually drive these cars on the street? I doubt it though. It looks nice, but the idea to actually drive them on the streets everyday would be rather odd.

On a side note, these look very nice:

No idea. I'd use one as a daily driver. My only concern would be vandalism from those who think it's perverted, or WTF ever some people might think.

And I just noticed some of the models of Itasha cars. Now, those I can afford.

Honestly I don't think I'd ever drive a car like this. If I ever purchase a car such as this It'd be for just collective purposes.

Here are some more pics.

I was actually wondering this just the another day.. That if it was possible to get a car like this. Still.. the question is, how the hell do you get one like this... Order one from Japan, lol ?

I would want a car with anime graphics.. But there's exactly what I was thinking like someone mentioned above... My car could experience some extreme vandalism by some people who think anime is perverted or something x_x.. ( And I'd certainly receive '' WTF '' looks ''... lol

Edit : Oh yes I was wondering something.. If the anime is licensed wouldn't it be like.. illegal or something to have such graphics on your car ?..
