Wow, I must say...Akira dreses up very nicely in a kimono.

Beautiful.

That was a very calm episode, Akira's friend really cares about her but I understand that after what happened with Akira she doesn't know what to do but is nice to see that after talking with the ex captain of the Soccer Club she finally received that last push to clear her mind.

Kondou as always is still trying to deal with his own insecurity, meanwhile Akira is trying to do anything to get closer to him.

Akira's sound after Kondo saw that love umbrella doodle in the book and threw it in the air was superadorable! <3
This anime is so very lively, like Akira blowing her hair up, her little dance at the bridge, the characters around in the background, the gripping and tightening of Hands on cloths, etc. It all feels very fluid and thus alive.
I love how Kondo tries to make him and Akira seem as "just friends" whereas Akira clearly aims to use the friend route to get closer and finally intimate with him. She's not a girl to give up easily.^^

I have a feeling that for her friend's lovestory at work, it won't end that well though. :/

So it looks like Kondou is trying to deal with Akira by friend zoning her, but that is having limited success. She's just not the type of girl that lets the friend zone hold her back.

Stepping away from her romance with Kondou, it was heartwarming to see Akira rekindle her friendship with her friend by going to the festival together. Nice to see that little subplot is still receiving development.

It also looks like there are a few romances developing on the side.

So Kondou is using the friend-zone approach. Akira in a kimono was so beautifull.

Akira isn't one to give up easily. I liked how she used Kondo's words against him, so to speak, and got him to allow her to text him because "that's what friends do".

I liked the bit with Haruka, and am glad Akira decided to invite her to the festival.

That was a good Kondo focused episode, got to learn a little more about him and his past and the conversation with Akira at the end was a good cap to the episode

One comment on a pitch-perfect episode like that? I can't help but be saddened by stuff like that, even now.

Manga is ending and people are waiting for it to end.
It's on a do or die situation because it might kill the interest in the series based on it regardless of the content so far.

I like the series but put it on hold for that reason, depending on how it ends I might keep watching until the end or drop it and move on.

There's not much to say at the end of these episodes anyways. Just look at the page count. There's only 7.

I like that Kondo takes good care of Akira in a fatherly way, even if I'm still iffy about her love.

Well, what do you have to say about it?

So Chihiro turned out to be Kondo's friend from college and not his wife. He's a pretty nice guy. That final moment with Kondo and Akira gazing at the moon was perfect. I hope we'll get to see Akira and Haruka patch things up.

Maybe I was expecting something a little scandalous (not like the level of Majo no Jouken or anything.) So I'm getting bored with the story for a while now. Nothing is happening. Oh well.

Well, after 900 words on it I feel kind of tapped out... But I'll stick with "pitch-perfect" for starters. Deep, subtle and emotionally profound.

There's always going to be that difference between a budding friendship between teenagers and those that have stood the test of time, even if they haven't seen each other in a decade. Kondo was right, but Akira also needs to know not to take things for granted.

Really nice episode. It's really good when a story can show more sides and aspects to their characters than just the main plotline. Makes them a lot more fleshed out.

And I have to say, the directing truly is just top notch. I think pretty much every shot had subtext to it, from the out righted stated (e.g the moon gazing) or the very subtle like Akira looking down at her feet whilst she told Haruka that her efforts on the track aren't in vain or the focus on that weird cat keyring at key moments on their friendship.

Watanabe is one of the best - he doesn't get nearly as much acclaim as he deserves.

From what I can see on his CV it looks like he did Space Brothers and Mysterious Girlfriend X. That's kinda weird for me because whilst i thought both of those were decent enough shows, I don't recall anything particularly noteworthy in terms of the directing. Nowhere near this kind of brilliance anyway, so this feels completely out of the left field for me. I don't know if it's just been too long and what I did notice didn't stick or if i just wasn't paying attention but Ayumu Watanabe is certainly a name to remember now.

So Akira's injury isn't so severe that she'd never be able to run again. With some rehab, she could resume her club activities. She obviously still likes running, so is it fear holding her back? Kondou and her are in similar situation, where they wish to pursue their passion and dreams but something is holding them back (the discussion about the swallow was pretty telling). And they'll most likely find the solution to their problems together.

Depends on the severity of the injury, I tore several muscles on my right shoulder blade in a accident and I was unable to competitively swim ever again no matter what I tried. The only thing they could do is go back in and cut my muscles up and hope they heal right but they said that would be 50/50 chance. Seeing as it was my senior year of high school and I missed any chance at a scholarship I decided to just keep things as is (also have reduced range of movement but that's rarely a issue). 15 years later I still miss being able to open up into a full stride while swimming
