On the whole Ki thing I think the translation is a bit off.

What was referred in the episode is Kiai.

Kiai is used to:

startle and demoralize your enemy.

prime yourself for combat, by "amping yourself up."

protect the upper body from a strike by providing an escape route for exhalation of air.

protect the lower body by rapidly contracting the transverse abdominals and other core muscles, shielding the internal organs.

provide solid support for striking techniques.

Given that Seikuuken means mastery of air it makes sense.

Kiai involves controlled breathing. Whether silently or shouting.

You're welcome.

Siegfried on the other hand is a master of Aiki.

Being able to read and blend with an attackers rhythm.

His freaking singing is his Kiai. (Which is really annoying)

But both of those are just mind of matter and control over the situation type things. Not paranormal energy. Your explanations made alot more sense to me.

WOW!!!

The info was great! I knew Kenichi had some realism on martial arts the first time I saw the anime. Deep breathing techniques huh? Just smoke on his face while his breathing ODIN will sure lose cause he'll sofucate.

I don't give a damn about people's beliefs if they are ignorant. You'll figure this out about me from seeing me post alot. Ki is not supernatural it has been observed time and time again. Of course no one has had success measureing or defining exactly what Ki is, but there is way too much proof to say it doesn't exist. I can understand skeptics, but at least do some research before you open your mouth and insert your foot.

Still no need to insult.

Also, if you can find evidence of it that has been approved by science, I would love to see it.

As of now, a life energy used for martial arts is really hard to believe. If this was proven to be true, then it would be known more. As of now it can just be a theory unless you can show me scientific proff of it. That means a hypothesis, experiement, results, etc. Show me a topic where scientist agee that Ki is real and I will truly belive in it. Untill then I doubt its existence.

And don't bring me anything about the energy that surrounds us all. That is true. That is electricity that we all have on, in, and around us. I mean find me something about Ki, an energy that is used in martial arts.

You guys shouldn't think of this deeply unless you're into Chinese Acupunture Medicine.

In terms of martial arts it is build up and release.

Kiai is the projection of your Ki.

If you've seen the 80's movie the Karate Kid it put it simply.

Wax on! Wax off! Wax on! Wax off!

Breath in Breath out

Build up Release!

From within to without

if you can't believe for any reason that Ki is real then you have no heart. If you believe only in what science can see and measure then you have no soul. I do not intend insult. I merely, very strongly, back up my beliefs. :P

I have no soul. I can't belive in something if it hasn't been proven.

Would you two quit it.

Baka Rounin I don't think you even know what Ki is.

You say you believe it yet you do not understand it.

To have a faintest idea of ki you have to have an active lifestyle. Martial arts or at very least exercise.

ki is great and all but if u can't see the proof u can't fully believe its there or not, fact and opinion are differnt things im not saying it doesnt exist its just something thats out there and u can believe or not but u can't fully understand it unless there are facts to back it up not just clues, beliefs, or your intuition

lol this is 1 heated topic

One thing to say about Qi what is most probably fact!:

Even if there is Qi, what ever that it is, it is mostly completely useless since a human being can't have enough of it for being benificial.

So, what i have got Qi, what can i do with it? Yeah nothing.

For kame-hame-has, you will need energy something like an nuclear power station could produce.

Ok it is my opinion only:

But look at the Buddhist monks in China!

They train for more than 10 years and they got sure some tricks.

They can somehow focus the "Qi" or whatsoever to a certain degree that weapons like swords can't harm them.

BUt this is only for show like sth. in circus, absolutely useless!

Like i said, you need the energy amount that only like a nuclear power station could produce for Qi being usefull.

like i said before this is all opinionative ~ you either believe it or you dont so theres really no point in arguing its "existance" as noone is sure...the believers say that it exists while the non believers want scientific fact...there are some things in this world that cant be explained and this is one of them...its like asking if you believe in ghosts or not...

lol I'll have to agree with lol-chan here. can't prove it, can't disprove it so arguing over it is useless.
