Hey guys! I just came across this thread recently...and I really want to be able to help out somehow. Unfortunately...I don't have a ton of experience. I am confident I can learn how to do typesetting, karaoke, encoding-type stuff relatively quickly, but I just haven't been part of fansub groups before, so, as I said, I lack experience.

However, what I DO know what I can provide, is web hosting, file servers, XDCC, etc.

Note: This only requires you to do a check over the translation, not to do a full translation.


Editors
Someone that goes through the English translation to make sure it is grammatically sound, and makes sense. Editors also ensure that typos, and other errors in regards to the translation are eradicated.
Experience Required: Must have a strong understanding of the English language.


Timers
Being able to time when the translated text will show/disappear on the episode.
Experience Required: Must know how to scene time, and not have any scene bleeding. We can teach you if your not experienced.


Quality Checkers
Check for issues such as graphical artifacts, timing errors, typos, grammar, legibility, sound and video quality.
Experience Required: no experience required.We can teach you if your not experienced.


Raw Providers
Supplying the raw episode to our staff from Japan in a timely manner.
Experience Required: Must know how to find and download episodes in high quality, and then upload it to our ftp so our translators can start translating.


Karaoke SFX
Designing the text effects for the Opening/Closing songs of our projects.
Experience Required: Experience is a must


Distro
Being able to either seed(Bittorrent), serve a XDCC bot or host Direct Downloads.
Experience Required: No experience required.


Encoders
Getting the final raw/translation/timing and putting it all together to release the final product which will be ether in MKV or AVI.
Experience Required: Experience is a must

Typesetter AFX(NEEDED!?!)

Help with editing the script would be nice. We need to check and look for errors/mistakes and proofread it. Making sure the script is error free.

Quality Checker
Someone to check the video for glitches, mistakes, and check the audio quality.

We need translators (you won't be working alone, you'll be working with me ) to help with GA/Canaan. We sort of speedsub Canaan. We also need distro to provide DDL or XDCC bots. Also perhaps an experienced editor to make our subs more English-like.

No experience required for the translator, although 3 years of Japanese language or native tongue is preferred. Even if you have no experience fansubbing, we are only two weeks old and got the hang of it pretty fast.

Applicants need to be highly experienced with textsub/.ass/.ssa formats, able to work off someone else's code, able and willing to use IRC. You may work at your own pace, there is no schedule or pressure get it done asap. All we ask is that you actively work on the projects in your free time. Just sitting on the scripts indefinitely and not keeping anyone posted about anything is frowned on, so don't be a dick bag.

I'll do just about anything to get a sub made for the 2nd Kochikame movie. I have managed to find a good quality copy I torrented but I will actually import a proper DVD if that is what it will take.
