A legendary won't cut it. I'm talking a complete overhaul of the type. One of the most used types is immune to it, it's weak to one of the two most common attack types, and it's only strong against an incredibly uncommon and weak type that is also weak to two of the better types (fire and ice).

Perhaps an ability will do it then? Lets have an ability called rust, which makes poison types attack be super effective against steel types. I think this will be a fair trade as it won't be a major changes to the game.

Which like, 90% of Pokemon can use. And it doesn't get stronger when used by a poison type. Considering all that, why would you ever use a Poison type because of its type? There are no advantages other than absorbing toxic spikes, yet a myriad of disadvantages. That means, on average, over 5% of Pokemon are basically useless merely because of their typing.

Meh, I've never really cared for the Ferro family. I'd rather have the starter be Steel/grass. Or Dark or Ghost/grass. And as for the fire weakness, well, all I can say is: Some things never change. The fire type so far has destroyed many, many, grass pokemon and it'll most probably continue to do so until kingdom come, or at least until the last Pokemon game comes out. Whichever comes first. At least with Steel a grass type can get rid of a couple weaknesses here and there. Or at least weaken the increased power.
