The DVD/BD sales results for Jun 27 - Jul 3 will be released soon.
Hopefully total sales for Hidan no Aria vol. 1 has reached at least 9,000 already, and then will reach 10,000 someday. The next DVD/BD volumes should also sell that much each, in order to get second season. |

There's no way this will hit 10k, the majority of anime are completely frontloaded in sales, might do 1.5k next week combined @ the most and than disappear of the charts. You can buck stalker rankings but you can't buck anime buying trends.

Some shows with far higher budgets have received an anime selling 5-7k on average... as we all know this isn't a high budget show. If it stays about 5k I'm sure it will get a sequel unless J.C Staff want to try their hand on another generic harem action LN instead. |

Just found the newest sales data for the first DVD/BD of Hidan no Aria. As of July 3, it had sold 2,779 DVD + 4,544 BD = 7,323. It probably will sell 8,000 at best. The next DVDs/BDs could sell more because they contain 2 eps each unlike the first one and because of Akamatsu Chuugaku’s recent message for fans to buy more.
Here are the top 20 JC Staff series before Hidan no Aria, with the highest DVD/BD sales per vol, for comparison (the numbers in red indicate they might change since the series are recent, and the series in blue are one-cour series): 25,645 Azumanga Daioh (2002) 24,497 Toaru Kagaku no Railgun (2009-2010) 17,372 Toaru Majutsu no Index II (2010-2011) 14,359 Shingetsutan Tsukihime (2003) 12,290 Ai yori Aoshi (2003) 12,070 Toaru Majutsu no Index (2008-2009) 11,039 Honey & Clover (2005) 10,620 Shakugan no Shana (2005-2006) 10,614 Toradora! (2008-2009) 9,098 Shakugan no Shana II (2007-2008) 8,789 Nodame Cantabile (2007) 7,513 Ai yori Aoshi ~Enishi~ (2003) 7,072 Gun Parade March ~Aratanaru Kougunka~ (2003) 6,737 R.O.D -THE TV- (2003-2004) 6,110 Honey & Clover II (2006) 6,008 Tantei Opera Milky Holmes (2010) 5,879 Zero no Tsukaima (2006) 5,185 Zero no Tsukaima ~Futatsuki no Kishi~ (2007) 4,842 Zero no Tsukaima ~Princess no Rondo~ (2008) 4,803 13 Heppoko Jikken Animation: Excel Saga (1999-2000) Selling at least 7,000 per vol would make Hidan no Aria the one-cour JC Staff series with the highest DVD/BD sales after 2005. The light novel series is actually a hit too, and it seems the character Aria is starting to become popular as well. Also, JC Staff doesn't like leaving a series' story unfinished and so many ended finishing their story or having more than one season like Index, Toradora, Zero no Tsukaima, Azumanga Daioh, Nodame Cantabile, Honey and Clover, and soon Shana. So, I don’t see why Hidan no Aria won’t get another season. Last edited by AP24; 2011-07-08 at 06:39. |

Shows generally don't outsell the first volume, they all have a dropoff, this isn't up for discussion.
Angel Beats! 11,802+22,308=34,110 (7) (P.A. Works) 2010/06/23 14,460 Vol. 1 Limited Edition (Two episodes up to Vol. 7) 2010/07/21 12,621 Vol. 2 Limited Edition 2010/06/23 27,052 Vol. 1 2010/07/21 23,808 Vol. 2 Durarara!! 18,310 (13) (Brains Base) 2010/02/24 29,653 Vol. 1 Limited Edition (Two episodes up to Vol. 13) 2010/03/24 27,439 Vol. 2 Limited Edition 2010/04/21 23,332 Vol. 3 Limited Edition Nurarihyon no Mago *3,929 (8) (Studio Deen) 2010/09/23 *5,851 Vol. 1 (Three episodes up to Vol. 8) 2010/10/22 *4,558 Vol. 2 2010/11/26 *4,256 Vol. 3 Etc. But FWIW I do think Aria will get a sequel if it avgs out at near 6k. |

At the end of Hidan no Aria AA volume 2, the cover for volume 10 is reveal! Shirayuki with her M60 will be on the cover.
It seems like there is a lot of fanservice, big guns include M4, FN FAL and more, Riko's influence towards other girls, Kinji's misfortun and more. |

So is it true what I heard, that they forgot to remove the steam censorship from volume 2 even after the author promised it would be de-steamed and apparently de-steamed on the cover? (seems a bit unbelieveable that they'd make such a big mistake and forget something like that, so I'm asking first)
If it's true, I wonder how they're going to fix this rather big problem. I'm sure fans in Japan aren't exactly too happy about it. And it'll definitely put a ding in long-term sales, unless the studio was lucky enough that all the fans looking for the uncensorship bought it on its release day before the news got out. (unlikely)

The color illustration on the inside of the disc case; the pic I saw showed that the disc case had a screenshot of the bath scene with the steam removed, while the episode itself still had the steam censoring.
