Owning only the sixth (AKA last) volume, I can definitely say they didn't animate volume six (not even a bit), which finished the series in a fairly good way.

Apparently, it seems that 7 and 8 are side stories.

It's not.
It's a good series, decent animation, driving story, well-paced plot, but keep in mind that very few romance/drama animes are licensed for US release in comparison to action/fighting series and harem comedies.
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is the only older (not really) romantic drama series licensed for Region 1 release, and only recently have such animes like Air, Kanon, and Shuffle! been licensed as well. These animes had a much, much greater impact in Japan than Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora, and they (Air and Shuffle!) went unlicensed for over two years. Notice that Da Capo, which was a large series in Japan, has not been licensed for US release after 4+ years.
You might be able to expect the novels to be licensed sometime, but the anime will probably stay unlicensed for a while at the very least.

As for Yuichi's lines near the end of the last episode (before the credits), here's a very loose romanticised translation:

"At that time, the half moon shimmered in the sky.
It's not as brilliant as a full moon, so the world drifts into night; but our world was lit at that moment, and the moon certainly shined."

mm.. it's a very liberal translation, though.

It's such a pity to hear that romance anime aren't going to be licensed as much as the other genres. But that does make sense, seeing how most people in "Region 1" mostly know anime as Pokémon, Naruto, and Dragon Ball Z.

Spoiler for Episode 6:

Site seems legit.

EDIT: Yeah, it's been licensed alright, though the above venue

The anime has been licensed by Japanese-based company Bost Digital Entertainment for distribution through their video streaming website Bost TV.[4] The episodes are available only to Australia and New Zealand for the price of US$1.99 per episode.[4]
Seems it's only available to Australia and New Zealand. Lucky guys, and the subs don't look half bad.

Oh I see, I thought from the talk above it wasn't about to get licensed, and ANN listed it as not licensed. Thanks for the info!

Sorry if this is late, but I thought I'd be of help:

kagayaiteita = (was) shining
akarukunaishi = (in context of the sentence "Though not as bright as the full moon") not... bright

Here's how I translated it. Note that this is not meant to be a transliteration, but massaged so that it sounds pretty in English while roughly obtaining the meaning:

Quote:
At that moment, a silver, half moon shimmered in the night sky. It's not as bright as a full moon, so the world has dissolved into the color of the night. But still, the world was lit at that moment, and the moon certainly shined.

Well I've never actually read the Novels. but they look interesting.
Are they similar to the anime? I kinda like Light romance novels but I typically dont like when they have much fanservice/ecchi content? i know the anime didn't but do the novels? have..like much ecchi/fan-service in them, cause id prefer them not too

No, the light novels does not have much fanservice or anything like that.
The anime pretty much follows the light novel, I believe, except they skip a few events and the sixth novel (the final novel of the actual story) was not animated.

The light novels have not been translated in English, fan-wise or officially.

Anime like this show aren't that powerful unless you marathon them if you know what I mean.

Hanbun is one of my top favourites animes. Yesterday evening, i rewatched it(all in one) the third time.. The story is brilliant. The animation amazing and the OST music breathtaking good.

I just read: Are there episode 7 and 8? Kind of OVA´s?
