Random space fact - The asteroid in Marika's dream looks exactly like Itokawa, the real asteroid visited by the Japanese Hayabusa space probe in 2005.
The Japanese are a bit nuts about Hayabusa, which was the first space probe to take a sample from an asteroid and bring it back to Earth. There are three full-length feature films about the mission coming out this year. |

Excellent - caught up with ep 7 last evening and am really enjoying the pace and slow development of the story, as well as of Marika herself.
Looks like things are about to get moving next week, right as Marika begins to realize that even though she is officially licensed as a pirate and has some skill and know how, she is still green in terms of practical experience - the scene with the ship's doctor temporarily taking command in the fight with the three escort ships really brought that out imo. Marika realizes she still has a long way to go.... Great ep. 7.5/10 vote from me, and eagerly looking forward to the story unfolding.

And people complained about the pace. I too liked the pacing. Little bits here and there, with anticipation for something bigger. Marika is so noob -- it's cute!

I'm guessing this is a reference to Rinne no Lagrange (which I haven't seen yet) and Madoka's "Maru" catchphrase and gesture. Seeing Marika do that gesture would be a cool shoutout. |

The three Hayabusa movies aren't documentaries - they're more like docudramas. They're scripted, with actors playing all the parts. The first one, titled simply Hayabusa, stars Yuko Takeuchi and turned up online this past weekend. You can probably find it if you look around. |

Yuko Takeuchi.... IIRC wasn't she in the Rescue Wings movie, playing the role of a Genderbent Uchida as the helo noob?
I find a certain sense of... charm, I suppose, towards Chiaki. One moment she's a moe teenaged schoolgirl Chiaki-chan buying stuff for her dad (Jasmine tea, korean rice wine, umeboshi) and the next moment she's Operative Kuriyama of the Barbarossa. Well, looking forward to next week, to see how the plot thickens- and I'm definately going to get the OST if I can. Probably pay real money for it too...

On Enterprise-D, the doctor (CMO) sometimes takes command of the saucer section when it separates from the stardrive/battle section. |

Dr Crusher didn't qualify for combat command roles until later in the story, but budget constraints stopped Paramount from ever filming more saucer-seps. I still love the Galaxy-class. It's easily my favorite starship outside of the Millenium Falcon or the Galaxy-class from Wing Com: Privateer.

It's not my pic(but since one of the sites where I saw don't allow hotlinking, I decided to put it on imgur). I just found it on Danbooru(and I had seen it on Pixiv before that). Pixiv actually has some nice Mouretsu Pirates fanarts. I don't have a Pixiv account so i don't know how to get the larger versions.
