God, WTF? never have I met a main character so annoying. Please kill him and end the show here. I like the series, but he killed it completely for me! A wanna be popular bully who finally have the ability to stand out, hope he gets some sense knocked into him soon!

In a way it's worse than Dragonauts.....at least in that one Kazuki wasn't the main character. But I will wait and reserve judgment on that. It hasn't quite reached Dragonaut trainwreck level. Yet.

In Dragonaut Kazuki didn't annoy me at all. He just made me laugh quite a bit and JIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN was so bad it was awesome.

I dig the show, in episode 1 where he flips the Eff out and breaks that brick wall I was like "OH MAH GAD" and then I couldn't stop laughing. Then when the techno music started playing when he was summoning linebarrel, the person who made the subs put "UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ" at the bottom of the screen and I practically died laughing. The main character is a freakin psycho, I hope he get's his ass beat, and then becomes an actual hero of justice that isn't a total obnoxious self righteous pompous ass hole .

Yeah he's a bastard in the manga too... Gets a 'little' better. But dunno how it'll turn out in this show.

I thought Makoto from School Days would be the most annoying character in an anime.. until I watch Linebarrels....

I thought he is stupid when he just accepted being bullied... after he got linebarrels, maybe he is better off being bullied after all....

Um, wow, this show actually had gotten good. Episode 3 was defiantly the turning point for this show.

Spoiler for Finally, something good happened:

First thing, if every episode started with the line ‘’It might turn out to be not so pleasant for Hayase’’ I would defiantly watch this show till the end. Just the thought that Kouichi might end up getting physical injury ends up brightening my day.
Reiji Moritsugu is, simply put, the most awesome character in this entire show. Not only is he voiced by Yuichi Nakamura, thus gaining bonus GAR point’s, but he is the only one who had enough commen sence to go and put a stop to Kouichi and his nonsense. He had my respect the moment he started talking. What really makes me go and wish I had a sig of him is what he does next.
He beats the crap out of Kouichi. Hard.With satisfying results.
Of course, he first gives Kouichi some punches to wake up from whatever dream he seems to be having, but when that doesn’t work (as we all know by now, Kouichi is drunk with power to a comedic level) he tears Linebarrel apart, literally! Of course, Linebarrel being annoyingly overpowered and with a hax regeneration, he does squat to him (though the scene itself is enough to make me forgive the show for all the crap it presented with Kouichi attitude).

Spoiler for And the cherry on top:

Even after that reality check, Kouichi still refuse to believe that he is not the hero of justice and starts shouting about how he is protecting the town while destroying it. By this point, not even amnesia can’t stop Emi fro realising that Kouichi is a psychopath, and after he gives what has to be the funniest line in mecha history (Shut up, you stay out of this. Just keep quiet and be protected by me!), Emi just gives him the honest truth:
‘'You make me Sick’’
You tell him Emi.
So, it does seem like there is still a way to save this show after all. Let us just hope that they would start using more of the manga chapters now, because from the looks of it, next episode might just be the end of Kouichi hubris.

Spoiler for of course, somethings are just...ugh:

There were some things which still annoyed the hell out of me such as:
- The fact that they seem to be adding generic characters out of nowhere (a prodigy scientist who is a loli? Glad no one thought of that before!),
-The fact that this Miu seems really out of place among the female cast (no really, is it just me, or does she seem like she is from a whole different anime?)
-The fact that Kouichi still needs to touch Emi's breast to summon Linebarrel. -_-
Other than that, the episode still had all of the usual servings, that being Kouichi display of how large his ego and stupidly has gotten ever since he started whipping the name of justice on the floor. This time it is shown in the ‘’delightful’’ (note the sarcasm) manner of how he treats his friends (who stood by him and tried to stop him being bullied and actually tried to make him grow a backbone) by simply acting all-high-&-mighty to them and how he has become the bully instead of the bullied one. Charming. While the last part happened in the manga, somehow the anime just makes me hate Kouichi instead of thinking that this is an interesting situation. And then there is the ‘’jealous girlfriend’’ routine, which as one might imagine, having been used to death so many times already, which is a match made in heaven for this show.

Overall, I enjoyed this episode more that the last 2 combined, even with all it's proplems, if just to see Kouichi having to wake up from his daydreams. If it stay’s like this, then this might turn out to be fairly decent.

Spoiler for Episode 03:

Kouichi receives the smackdown he deserves, from a very awesome Reiji. While watching the OP this week, i was wondering when we'd see the machina with wings. Glad to see it belongs to him.

I actually felt for Kouichi in this episode, though he still has that problem of only thinking about himself, and until he can surpass that he won't be able to grow at all. I truly do hope what happened in this episode, especially what Emi said at the end will at least stop him from acting so damn confident all the time. I mean this is what's needed for that to happen, though it doesn't look like he'll fully change just yet going by the preview for episode 04. Actually with it being this early in the series, i don't expect a full change until at least past half way in the series, though we'll see how the story progresses first.

Also i just like to point that having a veteran (the enemy pilot) pretty much out smart Kouichi in the whole battle is good to see. I'm glad they're not going to go with 'strongest beats skill'.

Decent episode overall, and i'm really warming upto Emi.

Just so people know who won't read what's in spoiler tags, this episode was pretty good compared to the first two.

Sometimes I wonder why a writer chooses to have a main character this dislikeable. Either the character is meant to change along the way, or it's all part of the main point of the story. Then again, maybe the writer just wants to see how the viewers (or readers) will react.

I have to say though, that Kouichi is even more dislikeable in the anime than in the manga—something which I thought would be impossible. He's supposed to get "somewhat" better, but the flow of the story is quite different in the anime, so accomplishing that would be quite a feat in itself.

While the anime is different from the manga the events haven't change per se. When I say event I mean character growth. Good episode overall.

Spoiler for Episode 3:

After 3 episodes I’ve gotten used to the OP. lol, it’s quite energetic to get the adrenaline rushing.
Episode 3 explores more in depth Kouichi background and persona which I believed should had been in episode 2 to emphasis the natural changes within Kouichi, episode 3 highlights the reason for his arrogance and manifestation of justice. I felt quite empathetic during the flashback but I blame the BGM, nicely used there. One of the general problem I had reading the manga was wondering how the staff would convey Kouichi as a problematic child while trying not to alienate its viewer as a weekly series. This is where I’m thankful I can read a full volume where anime watchers on the other hand are slightly bias on first impression.

Reiji arrival put a large grin on my face as I knew what was coming. I haven’t read that chapter in a while but Reiji punishment was quite merciless and brutal. (5 points for Reiji)

maybe it’s just me but I'm more sympathetic towards the anime version of Hayase than his manga counterpart although much is attributed to the nice BGM ^^ played. The 3 year transition from arrogance to nice guy just doesn't seem natural to me even though through a big event that changes Hayase to what he is in the manga.
I find the anime more natural in a sense, corruption of power has always been a presence of the darker side of humanity but can someone really change themselves after years of abusing such privilege. I always firmly believed a transition of changes is only temporary in effect and only one true natural can it be kept in the long term. I always question what could he had done within those years prior to the event of losing something important.

Next episode should prove interest judging by the preview. Expectation raising.

Nice episode. Good to see Kouichi's thoughts and his POV. All he ever wanted was someone to acknowledge him. Being bullied in front the girl he liked and watching another guy saving them shaped him into a man he is now. The BGM during the scene is nice too.

Reiji is awesome. But his VA, I was half expecting him to blurt out "I LOVE YOU LINEBARREL!!!!" :heh. But the Vardant looks wicked. And it ripping Linebarrel aparts, WOW.

The episode preview is hliarious. Kouichi is awesome. He really knows all the anime cliches. "You should keep quiet and just let me protect you!!!"

Sorry, but the wimp (tempted to use a harsher word here but will refrain from doing so) still needs to die. I just don't seen any pity for him or feel anything at all or whatnot. His character just downright sucks and deserves nothing in return.

This is because his main problem is jealousy...jealous of his BEST FRIEND who has truely looked out for him out of nothing for personal gain and turn those good intentions into a smoking pile of crap. Kouichi doesn't deserve to be called human.

If he wanted to "look cool" in front of Risako then stand up for yourself and fight! Rather than holding a grudge against the BEST FRIEND who just saved your pitiful ass.

His morals are extremely twisted and it makes me wonder if he has mental problems...actually, that is pretty much confirmed when he became power hungry and the self acclaimed "hero of justice" (my ass).

This character development from him does nothing for me, yet it only deepens how much I dislike him because he hasn't provided a sound reasoning for his disorder. Being jealous doesn't cut it for me as worthy of any sympathy. It happens to all of us so why can't he just get over it?

Deep down, he is just a freak
(Yet, he seems to be getting the girls, what the hell!).

Reiji is sexy and awesomeness combined!
