It would also, probably, mean that they are volunteers - which would explain why all of them went for the adventuring instead of a far more logical choice of normal employment.
It doesn't seem much different to me. Manato's death feels real and permanent enough for it to not be a game. Or maybe it is a game and they don't know that, but then where is the distinction? You can't tell you're in a dream if you stay inside forever.

(Assuming the "secret of the world" doesn't become a plot point in the future)

The mine/dungeon they are in becomes harder as they descend. Wouldn't the natural progression of protecting the mine mean putting your stronger fighters near the entrance and not the core? I always thought that intelligent entities would want to stop invaders at the entrance.
Did the story make the claim that nobody is naturally born? I guess I haven't seen any kids around, but I wouldn't make the leap to that.

It's also questionable how intelligent the kobolds and goblins are. They certainly fight tactically and are social creatures, and yet they don't have much in the way of strategy so far. I can see why it feels jarring for them to get slaughtered one by one without making any effort to band together to counterattack or something.

I was talking originally about the characters that we are following.

If you don't see babies and kids, it's safe to assume there aren't people being born into that area. Healthy towns have these, especially in the market area. That town is relatively safe so families should be there.

Instead you see female dorms, places for guilds to live.

I dunno, I mean sure you don't see any kids, but at the same time, this city seems to be on the boundary as it were between human territory and monster territory. If it's something like that I would imagine that people looking to raise families might opt to do so in safer areas deeper in human territory.

Still, you'd have kids around. If not the soldiers at least some merchants. I don't think there's a place without kids, apart from very restricted and inhospitable locations like, say, north pole stations and the like, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them there.

Also, there's no "places of ill-repute". You'd expect some in a town or on the outskirts. You have a tavern and that's it.

We have only been cycling through 6 areas (their lodgings, market square, tavern, Mary's place and the graveyard) repeated though, and from the one map we saw of layout all the way back in the earlier episodes this place is pretty huge. So I don't think we can say that for sure yet.

EDIT: Oh there is Haru's Thief Guild and that one bridge area too, but I think the later is probably part of market square anyway.

It also explains why kobolds are stronger than goblins - they fought the goblins first.

This story ends when Haru dies or the No-Life King dies. He seems to be the source of the monsters that live in dungeons. LNs are still ongoing, but I bet that's how it ends. Like how you fight the Dragonlord at the end of Dragon Quest, the fight with No-Life King goes at the end of the story.

Why can't they go to Damuro right now? I missed that part. There are not enough goblins left to be worth their time? It bugged me too that there seems to be too many goblins there, after their huge body count.

Seriously, just by looking on other world people and system it's clear it's not game.

1)Earthlings appear/get summoned in regular intervals. Noone would play game where every half year bunch if people disappear/get comatose.

2)They have real world clothes and no even subconscious remembrence about world of Grimmgal, even though they have various slips in every other aspect of their former lifes.

3)There is clearly intended behind their summoning. Which is not something you can find in game.

4)There are no game rules or limitation. There are some that resemble that but it's all made by humans and for humans. Same goes for skills.

And let's not even start with meta reasoning...

I was wondering about No-Life King. Do you think he's a vampire? That's what Alucard was referred to as in Hellsing.

I'm curious whether Mary's friends may possibly become undeads since their corpses weren't properly cremated and buried like Manato (I assume).

I really cant see how Mary old comrades become an undeads while there are Kobolds downthere. Unless the kobolds has good term with *undead*
I don't think we will see them , their bodies should be eaten by kobolds or the Kobolds somehow slayed them when they became undead.
From episode 10 we can see those Kobolds has human-like intelligence with how they have farm and could prepared an alarm, would be totally odd if they let Undead free roaming in their nest, right?

Isn't it obvious? No Life King is the king otaku living happily with his No Game Queen after dominating the world!

Looks like you were 100% correct (sadly). I totally forgot that the curse was brought up with Manato's death.

I've had my issues with this show (mood whiplash and excessively slow pacing in the early episodes -I wasn't keen on the full length music video sequences) but I was pretty impressed by this one. Even though the scene where they were sitting around talking about what they wanted to do next had me thinking of the "I'm going to retire" cliche.
