Hawkeye, Roy and Ed all look a lot different in the trailer than how they look in the series.

I'm all for any more FMA, hell I don't care if they keep bringing out stuff based on it as long as story is good and it's faithful the the world Arakawa created.
Not entirely sure if it resembles Arakawa's art more, but it sure as hell looks slicker than the overly round faces in Brotherhood.

Yeah, my first thought after seeing the new Ed was that he resembles the first anime's Ed more than Brotherhood Ed...

Spoiler for Key Visual 2:

Second official key visual for the movie. The new female heroine in the movie is Julia Crichton, voiced by Maaya Sakamoto. She's a 16 year old orphan who was born in the place known as Milos, which has since been destroyed. She is a part of an organization called the Black Bat which works towards rebuilding their lost nation. Her parents were killed by alchemists when she was young. She is wanted by the Amestris military.

Another new character revealed in the magazines this month is Melvin Voyager. He's a 26 year old alchemist who was imprisoned in the Central prison for burglary. Just before he was due to be released on parole, he read a certain article in the papers which drove him to break out instead. His escape from prison is the start of the movie. He uses an unknown form of alchemy.

The movie mostly takes place in Table City - located at the border between the west of Amestris and Creta.

Shiroth will be happy about that

Sounds fine till now and the promo pic is nice. I'd personally really like to see a different part of the FMA world; would be nice to get to know something about the western countries.

They really ought to stop spamming Sakamoto in every other new release... already got to hear her in another filler movie role earlier this year in Trigun.

Anyways, as for the movie itself, I hope it doesn't make the usual mistake that "The Movie"-type filler movies make in having the plot revolve way too much around the new filler characters instead of the ones we actually care about from the original story.

In this specific case, I think it's even worse. Maaya has been used in almost every S-E/Aniplex project in the last half decade. It's getting really dumb. FFVII (Aerith), Black Butler (Ciel), Arakawa Under the Bridge (Niko), FFXIII (Lightning), The 3rd Birthday (Aya), Star Driver (Sarina), Soul Eater (Crona), and even the third PS2 FMA game (Sophie). Now she's the movie heroine for this as well. it's starting to feel dirty.

I'm here going into full fanboy mode. Animation in that new trailer looks fantastic, and I'm still in love with the new character designs. Never has Ed looked this much of a badass before.

And I don't even need to say that hearing that new Laruku song got me pumped. In a way, if there's something I immediately think that goes along perfectly with FMA, that thing is certainly Laruku's music.

Good lord. Totally excited for this!

The flow of animation and the scale of the backgrounds and general art direction is very very strong in this film from what we've seen so far. They're definitely taking the idea of a "theatrical FMA film" much more seriously than the first FMA movie.

At this point i'm not bothered with the story, that animation looks absolutely fantastic. I'll watch the movie for that reason alone.

Plus i'm liking what we hear of the score so far. Not bad Taro Iwashiro.

I take back my statement I said in the past about them resembling Arakawa's art more. I think the series was closer, the faces were rounder.

I've figured out why Ed looks radically different in these trailers compared to the series!
Ed's hair is outlined in black and not a dark yellow.

Character pages for Miranda, Tony, Alan, and the Wolf Chimera have been added. Also, Melvin Voyager will be voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa.
