Couldn't imagine it being as messy as Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress but we'll see. Note that Okouchi's work on anime originals isn't always like that and speaking of shows he worked on that doesn't have him as the series composer, Space Dandy and more recently Comet Lucifer comes to mind.
This marks a rare time where Okouchi will write the scripts for every episode, I wonder how the viewers will react to it.

I don't particularly disagree on that one. You have a setting that shows plenty of promise and has the old school adventure feel of it, the problem with that series is that it did not do a good job at exploring the immense setting well for 12 episodes. I did commend Okouchi for writing some episodes the way he handles things for it, but that is not redeemable enough.

For now I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt ... am not expecting Shakespeare by any means, of course ... kinda expecting a "spy thriller" that is enjoyable, hammy and silly all at the same time with nice animation and audio no matter what.
Now then ... the only thing that remains (at least for me) will be the effectiveness of the story....

It really is with the combination of cute strong willed girls in historical settings, but that's not the only thing I was reminded of it. It also gives vibes off Cat's Eye for the female spies premise and The Mystic Archives of Dantalian as well for its Victorian setting.
