Oh, I really hope they don't use the time aspects to limit your gameplay in a you have X amount of time to do Y number of actions, like they did in the Valkyrie Profile series.

I'm not sure how any of FFXIII were not "human". Poorly written you can certainly argue, but they were definitely human with all the exaggerated expressions and mannerisms that games, anime and manga characters tend to have.

Anyway first official screenshots, and looking better than trailer. The game is giving off Assassins Creed sort of vibe. That said, Lightning's armor still looks rather out of place with everything.

I am talking about the JP division, specifically on hand-held side. Console part of SE has only release 3 internal games as it stands in the present generation (FFXIII, XIII-2 and The Last Remnant) in comparison to the high number of hand-held titles.

The game is an action RPG much like Type-0, Crisis Core, Versus etc, so yes for the most part you will be playing one character with direct control over movement. Most of Lighting's actions are mapped to the face buttons. The battle system is also imploring some sort of mid-battle class switching system that was FFX-2.

First time I've heard about this information.. but I guess it couldn't be helped since I'm not really following XIII information anymore until now.

Lightning is the only playable character

yup... maybe i'll youtube the ending when it comes out and not bother playing. i like my final fantasy games with game characters in the party. FFXIII-2 monster hunter monsters as party members did not impress me much when i played my sisters game file to try it out.

I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come. If Final Fantasy just gives up the groups for the sake of betting it all on one character carrying the story....it really might be the end of it. To be fair I'm not that convinced Lightning can carry this game, but will have to wait and see.

This not the first time FF has branched into an RPG sub-genre Action RPGs, MMORPGs or Strategy RPGs. It's actually a pretty normal thing for side games in this series. I doubt it well any effect on a traditional FF game.

I think the problem is that it's been some years that we've had a mainline FF game that people liked. I mean, I'm aware that FFIX and X got a lot of hate when they were released too, but nothing like what I've seen for XIII.

Yea the CEO even mentioned a few months back that it isn't canceled. Here is a new tidbit I just found on Versus XIII. Apparently Square is considering changing the name...possibly to XV?

I had a hunch that this would happen....kinda

anyway, I don't think it would be titled Final Fantasy XV if they ever did change it.
