Kadokawa pv had cast Atsumi Tanezaki, best known as the titular Bride of Ancient Magis' Bride, and Mizore in Sound Euphonium.

Quite interesting first ep.
I like Miko reaction (or should I say 'no reaction') to the ghosts and how she pretended to not seeing anything. The amount of fanservice is higher than I expected but I don't mind. This is the same studio that did Higurashi Gou/Sotsu right? Umm... Quote:
Those panties line........you don't see them often in anime.

Ah yes. So this is like a more serious version of Re-Kan!, right?
I like this first episode. The direction captured the suspense & dread of ghostly apparition well. Still, what's stopping me from loving the episode is all the shameless, blatant & egregious fanservice shots strictly focusing on the crotch, butts & panties variety especially during some serious scenes. What a way to ruin those moments. At least, when I watch all the fanservice shots in Highschool of the Dead, I know that the show is so OTT & Hyper. And I have no problem watching girls naked when they are changing, bathing or having sex (context matters). But in this case, the "camera" went out of its way by sneakily dead-set on focusing on the crotches & butts like a peeping predator. Those voyeuristics shots honestly grossed me out since the context & situation around them are very jarring considering how "low-key/normal" the setting is aside from the ghosts. It made me feel guilty and want to wash myself after watching .

I'm not sure which direction it's going to take, but the ghost's designs are really creepy. But hey, you shouldn't judge a book by its appearance, maybe if she talked to them, they'd be friendly. I definitely wouldn't risk it myself though

I checked this episode out coz the premise is supposed to be "horror-comedy". I didn't expect the show to have creepy voyeuristic crotch shots & butt shots that disregard the atmosphere of the moments.

A rather slow start and the gratuitous pervy camera angles don't help. I enjoy the manga, I'm not sure I'll continue watching the anime. Three episodes rule, maybe things will get better over the next couple of weeks. Nice to see Best Girl Obaa-san in the end titles, she reminds me of Yubaba/Zeniba from Spirited Away.

This was an awesome first episode! If they can keep this up whole season I gonna love the heck outta it! <3 <3 <3
Really was surprised how peppy and colorful the intro was especially when you consider the scary words used in it, but the ED was proper scary. Really liked the different way the studio went about Miko-chans "awakening". In the manga it was all of the sudden, here it had a build up - the scary TV show (with theํr fridge opening and the shower being clogged), the dog barking at nothing, the hand mark on the mirror, the crows, Hana talking about her dead clock and flickering lights, the rolling ball in the courst, Miko seeing shadows, the freaky handy accident and then ofc the first sight of a ghost. Girl is so badass!!! If I had been her I would have died on the spot and she just acts as if there is nothing!!! And then it keeps happening but she stands firm in her decision to ignore all the scary ghosts, the one in the bathroom, the Mama crying one under her bedsheets (I WOULD HAVE PEED MY PAJAMAS!!!) and the dead school girl one at school. God, Miko is such an incredible badass and a wondrous actress on top. Love how much detail they put onto tears, very important for this series. Also love all the detailed classmates, very nice, really nice indeed. That takes more effort than average drawn background characters. Also love how much early Julia has shown up compared to the manga series. And the music stop when the face showed and the creepy music when it asked if she could see her, nice nice nice nice nice. Also some other more spoiler stuff I love but which I wont talk about since we probably got anime only viewers. But the manga readers know what I am talking about.^^ Ah, this gonna be a good nightmare-inducing series. <3

Checked out the manga and the fanservice was there too. Just harder to notice because the art isn't that good. They actually removed a shot where Miko's bra was showing through her pajamas.
Only skimmed through the first volume and it seems to be purely comedy/slice of life (with ghosts). The rest didn't have much if any fanservice.

erghhhhhhhh.... I can somehow understand the fanservice
Spoiler for context:
I hope studio stops to add new things and just stick to the manga now.

After watched plenty of horror movies with actors kissing, stripping, and hugging each other, while chasing by serial killers or monsters, the fan service of this anime is refreshing. The first episode's feeling is almost as that show with girls chasing by masked murderers among skyscrapers.
The story introduces a pretty and sexy gril who can see gortesque looking ghosts. She realizes her seeing abaility can be a threat if they found out. So, she has to pretend ignorant about their presence. Else, she would be in danger. To pretend ignorant of other world beings is a common attitude in supernatural manga story, but this anime story still has something new too offer. |

Like I said, changing clothes, showering, intimacy & having sex at least provide the audience with context for the fanservice & nudity. Meanwhile, pervy camera angles that disregard the atmosphere & nuance of the scene is just downright creepy in a voyeuristic way. It would be understandable if it's the POV of the ghost/monster/slasher/sexual predator, but that's not the case here.

POV of the second person is seldom used in a horror show. The horror show often shows audience with third person's point view. It keeps audience guessing what will happen to the character. |
