I got a bit emotional watching that trailer. Partly because the wait has been so long and it’s finally happening, but also thinking about everything Maruyama sacrificed to make this happen - forming two new studios basically for this express purpose, desperately seeking funding, single-handedly beating the drum for Pluto for well over a decade. He’s basically devoted the climax of his career to making this happen, and it finally is.

If only someone had been able to do that for Satoshi Kon's dying wish too. But honestly, getting one more Urusawa adaptation is very welcome. The thought that soon his career might not even be acknowledged by newer given how the access to anime/manga history in the 2010s is being shut, it hurts. But at least we get to see it?

So I've heard. I may try Monster since it was put onto Netflix recently. Nothing but great things said about it.

First episode was amazing. The Gesicht part of the story was okay, but the Paulo/North part got me teary-eyed. When the cop was disheartened about the loss of his bot-partner, the weight of the loss could not be truly felt with only what was shown. I was taken aback when the story sudden cut to Paulo and North, but MAN... by the end, it brought me ALL the way back to 1995, where I would shed my first tear for an anime at the hauntingly beautiful Presence(Robot Carnival) on the Sci-Fi channel. Yeah, if you've seen it, then you know why. The moment when Paulo finds out what his mother did for him while he harbored such intense hatred... OMG, such a powerful moment. My vocabulary isn't poignant enough to describe that climatic, empathetic moment in the story, but it moved me very much.
Somehow, I don't feel that the main story will move me like the latter story ![]()
