At this rate watching Gintoki and Nobume fight side by side might be the closest thing we might ever see to a Haruhi sequel.

The chemistry is definitely still there between Sugita and Hirano.

Love how they handled the story arc. It's a mix of high drama with Gintoki's sad past, absolute funny moments with present characters and a lot of heavy death-match action that's totally personal. Nothing superfluous in the story, all well knit.

We get to see the Shogun stepping out of his imbecilic joke character to finally make real noble but tough leadership decisions.

We also finally get to see the face whom Gintoki and Zura considered as a father figure to them.

lol the donut monster sure does her share of damage. Nobume is a new character that has gotten my interest pretty fast. she's cold when needed and also caring for others' concerns at the same time. her thing for donuts is also very funny, i cant beleive he'd just shake off a broken/dislocated hand from her iron teeth just like that. she makes the 2nd fav spot for femal characters on Gintama just behind Tsukuyo.

the fight scenes were great as usual and every one did their fair share of damage. it may not be the best Gintama arc but its high on the list of best arcs.

Oh man this episode was intense, I was at the edge of my seat the whole time. Love how Gintama pretty much just gets to the point when in these serious arcs.

They skipped out several of individual chapters/episodes when they started with this arc.

Wonderful episode & we got more story's development.

The DBZ parody was the first rerun episode of this season, the original episode number is somewhere in the 120s.
Houichi was from the previous season IIRC.

The DBZ parody is 119 (this episode was so hilarious).

Houichi first appeared in episode 190.

Anyway make sure to watch the rerun version of the episode on Crunchyroll, as it uses the original Dragon ball Z music which makes the episode even better.

The ending of the episode was beautiful ;_; Takasugi showed up and used the opportunity Gintoki unwittingly gave him to avenge Shoyo. His final words to Sadasada were the same as Gintoki's to Oboro. The only thing the two of them have left in common is their love for their departed teacher. Nobume turned out to be a former Yatagarasu. This explains why she knew so much about them and Oboro. She is becoming quite an intriguing character. I hope we'll find out more about her down the road. Back to reruns next week... __________________
