Anime paying rent/owing money
So this is sort of a weird request but I'm looking for animes where the characters are struggling to make it on their own, pay the rent, bills, etc, like in Binbo Shimai Monogatari or NANA, or the people are working towards paying off a debt they have like Zombie Loan. Aka money obsessed people. lol.

Super Milk-Chan? She never has the rent money when the landlord comes around.

Hayate no Gotoku! - it's not a huge part of the show, but more of a joke. Hayate's parents sell him to yakuza types to pay off their debts. throughout the show people comment on how "poor" he looks, something which is somewhat a complex of his
Witchblade - protagonist is a poor single mom who ends up basically fighting monsters for money Doujin Work - Najimi becomes a doujin artist to make the big bucks! lol Saiunkoku Monogatari - protagonist is very poor, and becomes sort of a temporary wife to the emporer mostly for the money offered |

Cowboy Bebop. You have probably watched it but in case you haven't, it fits pretty well, the main characters are bounty hunters whose targets almost always gets away so they have no money.
Excel Saga Honey and Clover (I have watched only the beginning but the characters repeated all the time what poor students they were ) Ouran High School Host Club - the main character is por and has a debt to pay, all the other characters are very, very rich.

Shows like Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star had a fair focus on how poor they are, having trouble with supplies, fuel, ammo etc. It's not that an uncommon theme, really. I recall it in Black Lagoon a bit, too. All action oriented, with a degree of comedy.
Gintama, they're always struggling, and the landlord is always after her rent money. Oh Edo Rocket is about a bunch of relatively poor people (well... basically peasants) who are trying to get by. Both are very awesome comedies. Could go on for ages, but there have already been a lot of suggestions. |
