Yeah, most people who can afford it get a car straightaway, from what it seems... Over here in Singapore even rich kiddos go home by bus and MRT, but over there it's quite different. Unfortunately that, plus the rather um... lacking infrastructure in built-up areas results in the usual congestion and tons of pollution to boot. A lot of those old nostalgic buses happen to vomit out a lot of soot and smoke and other stuff like that...

I have been on the buses there only twice in my entire life though. And it certainly is a very toughening experience. I can never seriously complain at the bus service over here after that...

And walking on the pavements for extended periods will probably be advised against unless you've got no choice, of course. Various of my elderly relatives have done that and come home coughing black phlegm (and when we first sent one of them to the doctor he was totally nonchalant because he's seen it so many times).
Ironically, though, going in a car/bus everywhere is precisely what contributes to the problem.

Really, the good parts of Sri Lanka are mostly in the less-inhabited outstations...

I would like to visit Hong Kong, and LA again. I was so lucky when I went to LA a few years ago because my mum's friend's brother lives there and he's VERY rich. So it felt like we were living in Hollywood or something.

I live in London, UK. Ugh. I know I'll have a bad opinion of it because I live beneath the surface, but I can not even BEGIN to understand why someone would visit here. It's the most ugly and depressing place ever.

For our 15th wedding anniversary, hubby and I will be renewing our wedding vows here, specifically in the "faerie knoll" you can see on their little map We'll be in Europe for 2 or 3 weeks as a "honeymoon", and tour Ireland, Scotland (I'm half Irish, 1/4 Scottish), Germany and England.

Other than that, we have to visit Japan, as my mother in law still has a few family members left, and we want to see her grave there (her remains are in Arlington Cemetery but her family's shrine also has something for her). Where specifically THAT will happen I'm unsure of, as we're having to very VERY slowly rebuild a relationship there, with those few who did NOT disown her for marrying a non-Japanese man and having children. My children are discriminated against as well, seeing as they're 1/4 Japanese.

Well, more on Malaysia. Like the others mentioned, it's a culturally diverse country and the capital is Kuala Lumpur, better known as just KL. Generally, most people in the city can speak English or knows someone who does, so communication shouldn't be any problem.

Hotel rates in KL and for the rest of Malaysia as well, is one of the cheapest in the region, if not the cheapest. I believe you can get 5-star accommodation for roughly USD60 per night. Food is also dirt cheap. You could easily survive eating out everyday for nearly a month for like USD100. And a taxi from the airport to KL is roughly only USD15. Don't pay retarded prices like USD100 which some people get cheated into paying by fake taxi drivers. If you for example, had a budget of 1000 Euros, you could probably live like a king for a few weeks.

However, that's the city. Malaysia is in the tropics and it's famous for its nature, greenery and wildlife. Malaysia is divided into two halves, the peninsula on the west which is more urbanized, and Borneo (the top portion) to the east which is more rural. KL is just like any other big city just with poorer public transport than you're probably used to. The more exotic aspects of Malaysia and its culture can only be seen outside the capital.

If you really like nature, then I think Malaysia is a really nice place to go. There are many national parks, where you can see monkeys, orang utans, hornbills and the most ginourmous ants in the world(seriously!). The world's largest flower, the Rafflesia, is also found here, although I've never personally seen it. Also there are plenty of pitcher plants and orchids if you're into those things.

The largest cave in the world, the Niah Caves, are located in Sarawak, a state here. Would be quite an adventure to see, I think. Don't forget your insect repellent!

And the tallest mountain in South East Asia, Mt. Kinabalu, a world heritage site, is in the state of Sabah. If you're really fit and adventurous, you can even climb the mountain. It's not very steep so you can walk to the summit. Sabah is also famous for its amazing diving spots.

Other than that, Penang is famous for its food and the Penang Bridge, Malacca for its colonial heritage and things even further in the past, Johore for being Singapore's crime-laden neighbor, Kelantan for its Malay and Islamic culture, Langkawi for its beaches and resorts, and Pahang for Genting Highlands, the only casino in Malaysia.

Saint Petersburg ( Санкт-Петербург ) is one place I want to visit . Though I am not an architecture student I simply love Czarian style architecture . Its littered with Romanov style buildings which are treat to see . Post Communism lot of Communist style buildings sprung up . Though these buildings are antics of bygone era there is something romantic about these drab yellow painted buidings . Its a blend of Old and New . it is one of the places I look forward to visiting in the future .

Should anyone go mad and visit the southern shores of England..... Well actually most port towns along the south coast I could give a few recommendations... I've made regular trips to Mumbai (formerly Bombay) so I could also relay a few details about what you may want to see, what time of year to go etc. Unfortunately as I visited family there I have no idea as to prices for hotels. Other than that I'd love to travel around Europe, Eastern Asia and possibly eventually Australia, out of pure interest more than anything else.

I just booked a last minute holiday to Salou. I know it's not the most exotic of getaways but it was cheap as chips and me and my pal just needed to get out of this crappy country for a while, and quick!

I leave on Monday and it was so spare of the moment that all I know of the place is that it is home to - PortAventura theme park, which apparently has a massive rollercoaster...

Has anyone ever been? Any historical value to the place? Just any tips in general would be great.

Jamestown - The first permanent English colony in the US which is celebrating it's 400th anniversary this year. The Queen of England is even going to visit in a few months
Williamsburg - Home to Busch Gardens Europe and Water Country USA
Norfolk - a tourable battleship as well as a naval base (see here for info)
Virginia Beach - As the name would imply, it features a beach (along the Atlantic Ocean). Also in relation to the Jamestown anniversary it's going to have the original Magna Carta on display starting this Friday.

Well, I got my plans ready and all ready to go.

Places visiting on a two week Greek vacation in the middle of November:

Athens, Mykonos, Kusadasi (Turkey), Patmos, Heraklion, & Santorini.
Added in is a day trip to Delphi Oracle and the Osious Loukas Monastery.

Unfortunately I won't be able to go to Meteora orz

Indeed orz.

You're missing out a real sight. Delphi is just a lot of rocks, to be honest, and a nice party town (they have two, if not more major clubs) but Meteora is really a site no-one should miss when visiting Greece. Spending a night in that valley with a full view to the steep rocks and the lit up monasteries was truly something. Not to mention the monasteries themselves, and the views you're able to see from the rocks. I'll likely go back to visit sometime; it was that great.

Argentina is one of my wish list to visit, my main problem are how expensive it will be for the cost of the plane ticket. maybe by Summer (Argentinean Summer in December) ill go there.

After all, I want to know the Country of my Favorite Band (I hope that the name Cadillacs rings a bell).
