[Manga] The upside-down ninja
Do you remember this ninja hanging upside-down?
It’s Deidara, one of the strongest upper-echelons in Akatsuki. He is usually on his bird, a very useful ability to keep his distance above the sky and attack at the same time is what distinguish him from most ninja. This is a unique advantage because he can avoid techniques used for close combat, and not only that but to most ground ninja he is completely untouchable. Plus, he is moving extremely fast, so it would take a very skilled ninja to stand up to him. A fantastic ninja like Deidara is able to cope with his surroundings. The clay animals usually fly and even adjust course to find the target. This is to avoid any possible obstacles, from a defense as hard as a granite wall to huge amount of water. The clay animals will not stop looking for their target as they swim, fly, jump, run and crawl to get the results. This make any kind of conventional defense useless!! Furthermore, he uses remote-detonation to turn these cute animals into death, a perfect combination of sneaky techniques and powerful explosive chakra. There's even a sophisticated device with a telescopic lens to see everything clearly at a significant distance and perhaps even night-vision, the perfect tool for this dude! Did you ever wonder what it would be like to see a powerful Akatsuki as cunning as Shikamaru? The answer to this question is Deidara! A tactical genius and he proved it in the battle with Gaara. Deidara flew into Sunagakure alone, with no backup, to fight the Kage and his entire military forces, yet he still had the balls to go unprepared, and he was holding back in the fight! Gaara was called a genius, and he was outsmarted by this ninja who went to fight without any knowledge about the enemy ability and power. Deidara simply used his brilliant mind, meanwhile Gaara attacked him, and based on what he had seen he quickly discovered the opponent’s weakness, and finally deliver the knock-out punch!! As a long-range specialist, Deidara strike fear into anyone, but this ability make people conclude he must be rather weak in close-combat. But this turn out to be untrue since Deidara demonstrated how getting close to him is a bad mistake. One, the ability to eat things with his hand mouths and sneak the stuff back into the opponent’s weapon or body which usually means game over. Two, the replacement technique to create a clay body, which Deidara can pull off even if he was in a bind, means whoever got close is hence in deep shit, as Deidara can use this opportunity to blow his opponent to pieces. But you still wouldn’t appreciate this dude’s real power unless you take a look at his ultimate technique, the Number 18, a huge explosive monster so powerful it will obliterate an entire village, and remember, that is including the upper-level ninja and a large amount of mid-level ninja who would simply die in a matter of seconds! Most important, Deidara is a survivor. He survived a giant desert coffin. He survived a direct MS attack. But even with both his arms crushed and although he could no longer use his art, facing two elite teams trying to kill him, he could still squeeze off one last suicide attack which nearly killed everyone, not to mention the Sharingan and Byakugan were completely fooled as he got away. But this is not all, it looks like the whole Akatsuki business is just a piece of cake to Deidara. His partner Tobi was supposed to fight the three tails monster, but he was too scared, so Deidara took care of this problem with a single clay animal. To be honest, I don’t even think we have seen everything Deidara can do. Maybe his body is able to turn into a bat as it was shown when he first appeared. This guy seem to have no weakness at all. It would be a mistake to attack him! |

People are supposed to start a topic with a question, or at least something that generates discussion. But instead now we've got an essay on one of the weakest members in akatsuki. |

What! Mobius actually agrees with someone? Well unfortunately I don't agree. Deidara to me is weaker than Itachi, Kisame, AL, and perhaps Sasori. In my opinion, amongst the ranks of Akatsuki he's average. Probably just a little stronger than Kakuzu at most (If that much).

-You know as much as I detest fanboyism I cannot help but be amused by this thread. At the very least it isn't another "Sasuke is the greatest thing to have happened in Naruto" thread where ignorant people post opinions and claim them as facts. There really is truth to what Bijuu Killer is saying but I wouldn't put Deidara up in the Top 3 Akatsuki members. I would put him up in the Top 5 though, him being the 5th ranked. Now don't get me wrong I do not hate Deidara in any way, shape or form. It is just my belief that certain Akatsuki characters seem to overshadow him. Itachi, Kakuzu come to mind with the Akatsuki Leader and the yet Unnamed Akatsuki member being above them (the latter simply because he/she is a complete mystery).
-In conclusion, Deidara really is a good character and unlike our 1st adroginous character, Haku, he has lived for a quite a while. Who knows maybe he'll be the only Akatsuki left if all the other members get killed.

haha! deidara fan boy! Well I agree with you. That aerial advantage is really something. You have to understand that it'd be impossible to hit him almost and he can drop bombs from the sky. But invincible... no. Nobody is invincible. Amaterasu may be able to reach him and I'm sure kisame can make water dragons that can reach him. Those are just examples. Still what deidara has that the others don't is that trickster capability and that just is priceless.

But Sai can't attack anyone from his bird, he just use it to spy.

No, you are wrong. Dei knew nothing about Gaara, he learned about this special sand during the fight. He explained when his arm was crushed, Gaara used the special sand from his sand shield, and thus concluded this is much faster and stronger than normal sand. Even Sasori said he was unprepared, which make it so amazing how he quickly defeated Gaara. The entire fight was just Deidei playing with Gaara to see what his strength and weakness are. If he had known how Gaara would fight, he would have won instantly.
I agree, it was very impressive. Last edited by Bijuu Killer; 2006-12-09 at 08:56. |
