So~ I may be heading back to Japan again this coming April / May. When I was back in Vancouver for Chinese (Lunar) New Years in February, I reconnected with a bunch of dear old friends back from high school.
We had always talked about going to Japan, just us guys, and following the cherry blossoms. Yes, before anyone says it, this is not that trip -- the cherry blossoms will largely be over.. That said though, 5/6 of them have all decided to take 2-weeks off from work to go. I can't take that much time off, maybe a week max, so I'll join them partway or near the end. We'll have a Kyoto native with us alongside a bunch of guys that have never been before .. so the question is when I join them, I've been given the option to "semi"-direct the trip, seeing as I may be joining them after the traditional tourist stuff is over. So, question is where should I suggest we go? tl;dr -- wil may be going back to Japan again. Short trip. Meeting friends for the 2nd half of their trip 2-week trip. Aside from typical tourist stuff, where should we go? We'll likely be sticking to Honshu. It's a "boys trip" so .. yeah, I'm going to get totally smashed

Akiba is far superior for eroge and games...
Nakano is more general Anime, Light Novels and Manga Depends what you are looking for I suppose. Harajuku and Shibuya are also nice....The visual kei and fashion aspect is also worth it if you have spare cash

LOL probably why I was not impressed since this is an aspect I am definitely not into.
I did like the Animate more in Akiba than I did the main one in Ikebukuro though. Quote:

Also I actually found some cute non-anime things in Nakano too.

It's really nice in winter but seeing the souvenir pics on sale there, I think it would look quite neat in autumn too. Only problem getting there is mode of transport. Best I can think of is booking a tour coach

I had an almost BSOD moment when I accidentally found the shonen-ai section (all 3 floors of it) in one of the buildings. |
