One of my speculation is on the powers of the pilot of the Valvraes, maybe each pilot has a unique power like the pilot can read a person minds of who they have bitten or put the people who are bitten to sleep.

Actually the only thing I disliked about this episode is while the boys were off trying to fix the problem, the girls were getting in cat fights (at least Shouko tried to break the tension).

I am enjoying the series more each week. Independence has been good. lol

I honestly can't see most of the students as pilots, except maybe Saki, Kyuma, and with a little self control, Raizo. All the others seem to be too immature or just background support material.

Also, anyone think since it doesn't seem that L-elf is going to be piloting anytime soon, that he will actually be in the position of commander, issuing orders and making up the plans/strategies?

I`m a little curious as to how a fight will change the status quo between ARUS and Dorssia... Especially if and how they can return to it afterward.
Unless Saki is the one starting it...

Well, the ARUS are at least talking about allying with them even though they're a bunch of irresponsible kids, and since the ARUS is a democracy they have to secure the vote.
Dorssia doesn't have to worry about that, and doesn't seem to even be considering the students or their "hostage" threat.

If I was to try to give them pilots I would guess:

Red: Haruto

Yellow: Raizo

Green: Saki

Blue: Kyuma (Yusuke is also has a very, very slight possibility)

Purple: Akira(Maybe?)

I think L-11 will be in a more CO/leadership role.

I don't want Kyuma to be the pilot of 5/Blue. Mainly because 4/Green would fit him more (some people on 2ch call him "Bike-senpai", the wheels would fit that better) but 4/Green appears to be going to Saki.

That would be Raikou. The guy's name is Raizou. His name could still have a reference to lightning but since everyone's name is written in katakana (lazy, lazy naming) we can only guess.

But if he gets to pilot a VVV I'm sure he'll get a big and flashy one.

okay so we have

haruto: red
Saki as the green(agreed on speculation)
and the delinquent as yellow (still arguing)
blue and purple haven't brought up so i will
i think one of them will be piloted by another girl considering their weapons are a bow and a staff(respectively) if i had to guess it would probably be the purple one with the girl pilot for one reason most of the time in anime the one wielding a staff is usually a girl not always but usually and bows have become a gender neutral weapon
