Bought several potatoes since I'm planning to make beef curry for tonight's dinner.

Potatoes in curry? Usually potatoes go in vindaloo, which I suppose is a type of curry...

Speaking from my own POV and tradition, potatoes are essentials in many types of curry.

I'm really only familiar with making Indian curries. I also make a very bastardized, untraditional Thai green curry. It doesn't taste like real Thai green curry, but it's more to my personal tastes than the traditional recipes.

Oh, that's because the one that I'm making is the japanese beef curry, and not the indian style.

My Japanese girlfriend likes that but I can't stand it, lol. I prefer Indian curries or curries made with coconut milk.

ASUS PA238Q from amazon. my first IPS monitor ever and i am going to pray it doesn't come with horrible backlight bleeding. this monitor should satisfy me until OLED monitors come into the market or a 120Hz + IPS monitor comes into existence.

Nice price on that eIPS panel. I got a Dell U2412M instead, though it cost more, because I wanted the matte display and 1920x1200 resolution.

Let us know if it has backlight bleed or other problems.

I'm a huge Jackie Chan fan (who isn't right?) and remasters of some of his classic movies which I already own on vhs finally arrived in the uk on dvd, needless to say I bought the crap out of them.

i can definitely feel the difference going from a samsung 24" TN LED to a asus 23" e-IPS LED. the colors are a bit more vibrant and seemingly more accurate on the asus monitor (as it should since the factory calibrates it for their PA monitors). now on to the main issue of the backlight bleeding... yes it is true asus has a very well known problem with maintaining QC on this monitor for some unknown reason to consumers. fortunately the unit i received wasn't all that bad. but it is nothing compared to the horrible backlight bleeding images i've seen other consumers post on other forums.

i would have opted for the dell u2412M you have but came across this as it was much cheaper and has less input lag compared to dells ultrasharp IPS monitors. maybe if only amazon had it because of the recycling fee and tax dell charges from their site.

here are two pictures of the backlight bleeding. you be the judge of it.

Spoiler for big image:

Wow, that backlight bleed is pretty severe. My U2412M doesn't bleed hardly at all unless you compare it to my Nexus phone's SAMOLED display.

I got my monitor from Amazon for $360 with free two-day Prime shipping (that Amazon so kindly turned into one-day shipping for nothing because I ordered it on Wednesday evening) and since it was from Amazon, no tax or LCD fee.

I've been wanting to get the Asus PA246Q ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Asus%20PA246QP )

I have the money now...but I just can't do it, $500 for kicks. Maybe one day...

Sure looks yummy. I have always preferred Ben & Jerry to Haagan Dazs.

lucky you! amazon has it OOS atm and my return window for this monitor is may 13, 2012 to get a full refund. if only that input lag on the U2412M was a bit lower..

i would totally bite on that monitor if it was around the $345 mark from amazon. $500 is a bit too much for my blood. it's so amusing how this 24" monitor does not get any backlight bleeding complaints compared to the massive amount the 23" gets. well, they had to cut a corner somewhere to remain competitive in the market..

so far after playing around with the monitor, the bleeds aren't noticeable at all unless the screen is COMPLETELY dark around the edges. i may just keep it unless there is some awesome internet promotion for these monitors running around in the next month.

The input lag feels much lower than it's stated. I don't have any problems playing games, though I don't play competitive FPS online.

Pre-ordered this (and I got the first two Max Paynes as part of the package, so now I have an excuse to try them out)...

..and this just came in the mail.
