Ep3. Still running free. Good pace, good vibes. And good voices (Kimura Ryouhei, Okamoto Nobuhiko, Hanazawa Kana, Ono Kenshou, Ono Daisuke, Shimono Hiro, Okiayu Ryoutarou, Miyano Mamoru, Hirakawa Daisuke, Eguchi Takuya, Suzuki Tatsuhisa, Ono Yuuki, Toyonaga Toshiyuki, Ohara Sayaka).
Director Ishizuka Atsuko did Sakurasou, No Game No Life, and Hanayamata. Good vibes. Lead writer Kishimoto Taku did Silver Spoon (character and group dynamics) and Haikyu (those and sports, too) and is also doing Erased this season.

Stop! Catchphrase thief!! That was cute. But I wonder what Kadowaki was doing with Fujiwara after that... was Kadowaki trying to move Fujiwara to the rhythm of the music? But then why was he groaning? And Fujiwara probably wasn't trying to escape since after Kadowaki let him go he just stayed like that moving like a wound-up toy... Whatever that was about, it was funny.
I like that they didn't make the team win the race, I guess these guys will be the big rivals for the final match or something. |

Galaxy Standard make an appearance.
Those guys were pretty friendly. New opponents, new race! Those guys had interesting tactics to throw off their opponents. The race was fun & intense! Really enjoyed this episode. It's official, I'll be watching this.

The first two episodes of this anime really had me on the fence on whether I should continue watching or not. The characters remind me of the anime "Free!" which i'm a fan off but other than that it didn't have much going for it, a lot of the dialogue is dull and the story is nothing special.
However, after watching episode 3 I've been convinced to keep watching as long as we get more of those Stride races, I was hooked the moment the teams were eying each other up and giving comments to one another. That was some face paced action that had me rooting for the main cast, it was interesting to see all the different moves being done as well as the struggles

ahah, Takeru is fun. That's how his kind of character had to be done. He has this habit to end others sentences and they made fun of it this episode
The humour works for me and the race was interesting even if I had preferred it a bit more detailed. The one I was more worried about was nana. I guess there are no written rules. Its a street sport so I'm expecting some street code more than a real regulations (well, just a basic one). Also it seems to follow the rule of cool, so cheating would be really uncool.

I didn't like the 3rd episode as much as I hoped I would. The first half wasn't particularly interesting but it did pick up once the race started. Also this episode made me realize (I'm slow yes) that the main rival school are the ONLY team that appears on the ending! I thought it was all the main schools but I clearly wasn't paying enough attention lol
I'm still not 100% sure I won't end up dropping the show but I'll keep watching for now (not like the bath scene bait influenced me at all, nope :X) |

Episode 3
And so, they lost, which was pretty unsurprising. And it was all megane's fault – if he had been at least half a second faster, Takeru would have made it and they would have won. Yagami now also wants to win just like Takeru wants to win. Now it is off to the summer stride competition whatever and they will face those galaxy dudes again in a later stage in the tournament. They will breeze through the rest of the tournament before facing the galaxy boys (probably) The comedy was good and the race was a bit interesting. Let's see if it can get better. |

Episode 4:
Well that got rough. I mean, this is a high level match that Honan's Stride club got themselves involved in. Nagatsuka looks like a Titan LOL And that shortcut during the race was quite the risk. First half was boring to me except for some of the race obstacle mechanics. Second half was much more thrilling with the race. What I find interesting is how they use the music for this series. Quite well done there. Kadowaki earned my respect this episode.

Episode 4
So megane got over his fear and practiced hard to try and pull off those jumps. But he got close to giving up because the slope was too steep. He had the right idea with the shortcut but it didn't exactly go according to plant as he didn't stick the landing right thanks to the tree in his way. Hozumi ended up being the real hero as, despite being 4 seconds behind the opposing team's captain, he won. And megane ended up pretty badly hurt despite Heath telling them to not get hurt. If their next match isn't that far away then they're in a pinch – who'll replace megane? Some fun bits here. The race was pretty cool, especially that last leg with Hozumi. Sakurai fell for their bluffs – the relationer was just there to put off the opposing team whereas the captain was really calling the shots. Now Rika's onii-san is coming back. The two don't seem like they're on good terms for some reason, and Stride probably has something to do with that. Kyouske thinks he isn't worthy of Stride or something which is why he refuses to come back. This guy, and Tomoe seem interesting. Will be interesting to see what events Tomoe causes upon his arrival. |

Ep 4 left me pretty much with the same conclusion as Ep 3. The race scenes are really good and really exciting, but the rest of the show fails to interest me as much. Don't get me wrong though, I really liked Ayumu's character development and the fan service was fun, but it still feels lacking somehow.

I'm pretty sure the opposing team's relationer was there because the sport rules require that each team have a relationer in order to compete. But you probably already knew that.
Speaking of required number of participants, I hope Ayumu's injuries aren't an excuse to write him out in favor of the (presumably) returning 3rd years. I like the idea of a team that has members at all ability levels more than a team that consists of only elites. And I like Ayumu as a character too.

I thought she's been doing pretty well. She's inexperienced and still becoming familiar with each runner's ability, and this episode introduced the element of psychological manipulation between relationers.
The action is still pretty good. Hopefully they'll keep it up. The joke with the dying sister and the big guy's reaction got me laughing for real |

I agree with Casshern. She came to the club hoping to be the team's manager. She never expected to be a competitor in any form. For all we know, this may be the first time she's been in any athletic competitions beyond phys ed classes. Under the circumstances, I think she's doing well with what must be a daunting learning curve.

To me, it seems like she just doesn't learn. Every race, she spends more of her attention on the other relationer than on her runners, especially at critical times. Especially as a beginner, she should know she can't do both. She, as they say, only has one job.
Here, we had a relationer who exploited that flaw on purpose, but she does it even when the other guy just does his thing. |

Practicing gimmicks... Ayumu really tried.
Yagami sure is cheerful ^^ No wonder since they're at a hot spring. Fujiwara was harassing everyone... ROFL those BL moments. End of summer battle time! Ayumu did himself in, but at least they finally won!

That was such a great episode, I loved the race and Ayumu was the best. However, I had a feeling they were going to write him out. They've been showing since the beginning that Kyosuke was going to come back, and of course they would replace the "least" talented member of the team.

I personally prefer that they leave Ayumu in. It's more interesting to watch a more or less imperfect team gradually build up their skills than a totally elite team easily winning at every chance. Ayumu may not be their greatest runner but, like the last episode showed, he has the smarts to strategize, which may make up for his lack of athleticism. Although he still needs to perfect it. Also, doesn't the OP show a guy who looks like Tomoe leading a different team?
