It occurs to me that Yuuno is similar to Fate. Much more so than we ever would have believed.

Yes, there is the obvious difference that Yuuno lacks Fate's offensive power and some of her speed, but makes up for it with defensive power. And the handicap that Yuuno doesn't use any Device, let alone one as good as Bardiche.

But now that we know Yuuno has a shooting spell and a magically-enhanced melee attack spell, as well as using his chains and barriers for attacks, it's obvious that Yuuno is similar to Fate in that they both favor an even mix of long range and short range attacks.

That is to say that they do not favor a particular range of combat, and instead adapt to their opponent; they find the range that their opponent is weakest at, and then try to control the fight to take advantage of that.

Fate attempts to control the range of the fight through her speed, by rushing in and retreating out as necessary.

Yuuno attempts to control the fight more directly, by pulling his opponent in with a bind or blasting them back (I assume with a barrier).

What you outlined is more a difference than a similarity.

Compared to Nanoha or Vita, who each favor only one range?

Fate is a skirmisher, dashing in and out of melee. Yuuno controls a fight with binds, pulling or pushing opponents. It's the exact opposite. Add to that that Yuuno quite simply isn't a melee fighter in the core sense (having a melee attack and being a melee fighter is a rather vast difference) and I do not see how he is like Fate at all.

You'd be more accurate if you compared Fate with Vita. Both prefer melee, but are not adverse to using ranged attacks should the situation call for them.

Fate has bombardment magic and turned a shooting spell into a volley bombardment (Genocide/Phalanx Shift). Seems to me that her ranged game is as good as her melee game.

Sure, but Fate, Presia, Revi, Linis all have poor defense. Presia, if not careful can lose about 90% of health from a FBD. Fate and Revi have it worst as they can get one hit kill if hit by the FBD when they are in sonic form. It runs in the family I guess.

Not sure what that has to do with it. Either it means nothing because she's going to rely on dodging and blocking to defend herself in melee engagements, or it is an argument that she should avoid melee and stay at range for safety.

She should hit fast and quick as she can't last long. You can only dodge that much.

Fight in the arcade mode and either one will appear in Battle 3. Beat them and you can use them in other modes. Just to note, the same goes for the materials as they will appear in Battle 6 in arcade and just beat them there and you unlock them too.

Oh, interesting. I got the materials by finishing the Final sequence with everyone.

Well, that too was a way to unlock them but the arcade way is also a method. Using Chrono to fight Yuri is nightmare.

Not really, just bind her when she tries to attack you from far away. She takes longer on her attack than the bind.

I wonder if Yami's ability in Weiss Schwarz (+1000 power with Rai and +1 soul with Seikou) is related to her final form.....

Looks like Levi, Stern and Dearche like their names.... wonder if Yasanagi/Nanya01 will change their names....

Levi: MY NAME IS COOOOLLLL~

Did somebody mention Unison Material-D? How does that work?

And do Rein and Yuuno appear anywhere onscreen together?

So, like Chrono's Delayed Bind, but cast at short range instead of long range?

Yuuno actually bludgeons his opponents with his magically enhanced bare hands
Wow.

before blowing them away from him.
With a magical punch, or a barrier/shield to the face?

He can chain that into a close range smash with his binds.
Meaning that he blows them away, snags them with Chain Bind, and draws them into a Barrier Smash or another round of punching?

Also, what's this I hear in the Image thread about Vivio flirting with Yuuno?

Darn.

Still, Yuuno and Vivio appearing together on the same screen and actually talking to each other? That's a much bigger wonder.

Wait what? No she doesn't.

Spoiler for Sequence 2 Battle 03B:

There's also a Einhart vs Yuuno in Sequence 8 Battle 05B and then Yuuno doesn't appear in the final battle (which story wise may be a pity but gameplay wise is a godsend.)

Yeah, thought that was too weird to be true.

Getting a Device suited for him at the last minute would have been a power-up on the level of Blaster Mode or Unison, and would have solved that issue.

Alas, it is not to be. At least not for the this game.

If they make another one after this, and he's still in it, maybe then.
