Actually nvm, I got the plot premise/idea wrong. It's actually an adventure type of story, MAL has a good summary of it:

The Blue World, which symbolizes reason, is under constant attack by the creatures called the Nightfly O'Note originating from the Red World, symbolizing instinct. Akira Asagi, the 17-year-old protagonist who is a researcher at Blue World, is nominated to lead the war at Ryuukyuu LAG, a proud defense facility on the islands of Ishigaki and Iriomote. She meets the sixth combat unit "IS," which was formed four years after a fierce battle that annihilated the fifth unit. Akari must lead these six riders, also called the Scared Rider Xechs, to fight against the other world while at the same time deepening the relationship among them.

And the game version synopsis

Troops of otherworldly aliens are invading earth. To protect the planet and humanity, six chosen youths are recruited into the Scared Rider team under you, their commander.

Gameplay is split into the adventure part and the battle part. Peer into the boys' everyday lives and get to know them better during their free time and send them to fight when the siren calls. The game comprises of 13 episodes, at the end of the day, will you be united with the man of your dreams or will you perish with the rest of the world?

Episode 1:

Strange episode, got the mysterious sci-fi vibes after watching it but the story feels kinda confusing at the moment.

Curious to learn more about that Yosuke guy especially after seeing some of his past. The alien invasion trope isn't something refreshing either and apparently, the monsters are called Nightfly O'Notes or something. Artwork reminded me a bit of Prince of Stride. Going to give it a few more episodes. Music seems kinda nice.

To be honest, this episode had only two memorable things: heroine's legs and that flamey demon-like guy, Fernandes, who kinda reminded me of Tora.

The solo guitar bits were kind of okey too.

Also, I think the girl's french? That isn't used too often if true.

It seems they turned one of the guys into the MC (in the game the girl must be the MC, being an otome game and all). Also the blond girl seems to be an anime-original character.

I wonder if they're going for a love triangle with the guy at the center. It would be a pretty odd direction to take for an otome adaptation, that's for sure.

Well that was... different.

I decided to check this out based on its slightly unusual premise, and I guess in that sense, it didn't disappoint.

This show certainly has an unusual blend. Here are the various things that Episode 1 made me think of:

1. Elfen Lied, with far less gore. Mainly due to the shadowy and super-serious sci-fi scenes.

2. Sacred Seven

3. Kamen Rider specifically, and sentai heroes in general.

4. Fabulous anime boy bands.


A pretty odd mix to be sure. Reading that this is an Otome Game adaptation explains No. 4 to me, but not so much the other 3. Are they trying to take an Otome Game adaptation, and make it appeal to male sentai hero fans by cutting out the game's female lead?

Anyway, Episode 1 had some promising moments, but it remains to be seen if this all gels well or not.

It was a sentai hero themed game originally.
But not very sci fi though.

But after the initial otome game, there was a change of direction on the development side, making this franchise more serious than it was.
Hence that Hijiri side story manga.

Glad to see i'm not the only one who thought of this. They even have their buddyroid and the bikes. If they add a giant mecha with gattai, i might just burst out laughing.

First episode was quite boring (well, maybe it's just me not being into reverse harems that much?), but girl look really cute and what's more It was nice to see Lucifer coming out of closet for once...

i am not sure why the Riders' battle suits look dull as heck, it looks flat when animated, but i 'm sort of okay with it not being done in CG along with their respective creature partners, also why is the entire team's bikes are all red colored instead of being color coded with each of their respective rider like a proper Sentai team?, it's like akin to all of them is using the red ranger's bikes.
