The eyes' color is indeed purple, it's just that the dusk is coloring them differently.

This brings me up to a joke I once heard.... "Girls have a better eye for subtle color differences, which is why they fuss about wallpaper."

I had contemplated that, but that's only for the lower part of her body. The sun be shining on her face bringing her to her normal colors, yet the eyes....

Oh it's fine really, the joke here is that I'm used to seeing the Purple Shirley, loved her, but then Blue Shirley comes along and

my heartbeat rose! But I can't cheat on Purple Shirley, but... Blue Shirley is looking at me! ah, the gaze pierced my heart..

Simply put, production time is consistency, and budget is framerate. Even poor animation is costlier than a high-quality still shot.
