It depends, whether they want to appeal to new fans with a very short and plot-thin run (so they won't get confused by thinking too much), while avoiding to alienate the now very much adult old fans (who will get bored to death with more then 13 episodes)... or target exclusively the old fans with nostalgia, and watchable storyline... But don't worry, there is no chance that they will even imply something remotely close to the doujinshi published over the last decade and a half.

My guess would be a 26 episode retelling of the first season plot. Basically the same story using modern production values and adjusted for a 2010s audiance rather than a 1990s audiance.
It will keep enough of the original to keep the older fans engaged, but try to make it pop enough to get the young people to watch it and buy stuff with their parent's money. Its worked so far with Space Battleship Yamato 2199. It can work with Sailor Moon. If handled well.

Considering this is obviously backed by Tamashii Nations who would like as much character figurines potential as possible, they'll want those extra rangers the latter arcs bring. Last edited by Daniel Lind; 2013-05-19 at 13:30. |

Yes, there's already 3 versions of the first season in the manga, anime and live action. It's why I'd rather see a new season where the anime left off. I'd love to see them doing something with Sailor Cosmos, which was omitted from Stars.

Even if the anime has been delayed (for god knows how long), I think they should give us some details on the anime. Such as the overall story and it's direction (if it will be a retelling of the Anime, closely follow the Manga, or go off in it's own direction. I'm personally hoping it will follow the manga closely.), how many episodes or seasons they are aiming for, if they'll be trying to bring in some of the original voice actors of the anime, and other details. So far we're approaching one year since the announcement and yet we know nearly nothing about the anime. I understand if they can't show us a trailer or even some concept art for some time, but some additional info would be nice.
I'm already anxiously checking out Anime News network nearly every day for any new news on the anime, and slightly disappointed when there is no new info. |
