And as much as I hate Lefiya normally, she was hilarious in this one. Her and Bell play off each other surprisingly well. And his guts around Aiz appear to have indirectly improved her everything despite her never actually seeing them.

Also, concurrent casting, yay!

It is sad that there is so little episodes and chapters of Manga and anime.

Things start to become interesting and suddenly the manga ends and anime right after.

Well, the next translated volume from Yen Press comes out next week I believe (estimated ship date) so that will be some more content to read through and the second to last of what feel like "filler" volumes until the author gets to what appears to be the main plot of the series.

It makes sense that it has taken awhile. The author wrote themselves into a bit of a trap by making the world so "time intensive", i.e., taking years to level up. Giving Bell the power to level up quickly helps introduce us to the early world, but since he still needs a party to continue delving in deeper, means we are running at the pace set by the slowest member. Finally, any plot with serious enough consequences to be "dangerous" to the world at large would stretch the limits of our imagination by having Bell and crew capable of resolving it. Why would we need a Level 3 to save the world when there are Level 6 characters around? Since the plot can't move against those typical grand scales, it has to move with personal development with Bell. I can't imagine anything more personal to his development than...

... having the untainted image of Ais, who has been his inspiration, sullied by her icy pursuit of Wiene. I have only read the synopsis and look forward to the translated version to clear up any confusion, but it seemed like the ending had Bell no longer looking to Ais but to the dungeon itself. Paired with an actual rival now, it seems like the plot will be moving at a steady pace. Or I hope.

Well, Bell at level 2 has better stats than LV4 characters, that would explain why single LV3 can save the day.

It's just that emptiness after you finish something good and there is no more.. I hope next chapters as well as anime season is being made

Well, to put it lightly....

That's basically the opposite of what happens. First of all, Aiz isn't in the wrong here, from Bell's or the narrative's perspective. The Xenos have, from everyone but Bell's perspective, proven themselves to be extremely dangerous monsters far beyond anything short of a damn Floor Boss. The Xenos' themselves acknowledge the only way for the situation to be resolved is for a group of them to die to ease the unrest and fear. So there is no "sullying" here.

Second, if anything the two of them are closer than ever afterwords. Between the promise to train again, Bell no longer being a simple fanboy, and what can be described as a bargain sale on ship tease throughout the two volume arc, this is the nail in the coffin, not the ship sinker.

him looking at the dungeon instead of watching aiz walk away doesn't scream "nail in the coffin" to me as far as the bell bowl goes. yeah there's no sullying as her thought processes were in the right, but that alone is a key point in itself. i'd say the roles have been slightly reversed in that now bell is the one who wants to focus on improving and aiz is the one with growing interest (still cant call it love) in bell

Realis Phrase is still intact, which means his ideal of her hasn't changed.

His ideal and attraction are both based around his admiration of her as an adventurer.

The final scene in the novel in which Bell finally gains a concrete goal is him making a promise with Aiz. This in spite of being the only love interest who opposed him, meaning that had no effect on her massive lead.

Him looking at the dungeon is him reaffirming his resolve to go stronger. The initial impestus for said desire was Aiz.

The reason I called it the nail in the coffin is because if the author planned to break off the ship, he would have done as many thought he was and had Bell and Aiz actually betray one another.

Instead, Bell wins her respect in the fight, continues to have Realis Phrase, and makes a future promise with her. So yeah, the one story line that could have given another girl a chance instead widened the gap.

more like it was a promise to himself to grow stronger for the sake of protecting everyone he cares about, which he practically said himself. having no effect on this 'lead' also implies that said lead hasn't really changed either.

the initial reason is just that, initial. his desire to grow stronger isn't strictly defined by aiz anymore. the fact that the author went out of his way to point this out is significant in itself, whatever significance it may be.

it was never in question whether or not the ship would be broken off, the point is that nothing that came about from the end of v11 has their situation move any closer then where they already were. she's still not any closer to having feelings for him as they now are back to square 1, before this whole wein business began. her agreeing to train him is just more of the same really, nothing we haven't seen before. surviving a pitfall =/= making progress. sure one can argue that it strengthens their bond but when it has no immediate net gains, it amounts to more of a road bump.

She gets jealous of freaking Bete because she thinks Bell might admire him, he is the only one who can revive "inner Aiz" (that chibi that's basically her real self), and he's literally the only thing capable of diverting her from the dungeon.

Even the main novels get in on it. The whole scene where she watched him meet the other girls, eventually assuming the fetal position and muttering about him being a delinquent, for one. Her being jealous of Weine and saying Bell is unfair for another. Admittedly the second one may have to do with her whole "hero" thing, but Bell's the only one who triggers that, too.

Now instead of Bell getting stronger for other people and not thinking of himself he will now have character development. Him wanting to change himself even more than before. Him wanting to figure out what kind of person he wants to be, could be and should be. Bell now has a stronger resolve. He realizes he is helpless to change the status quo and wants to improve himself finally as a person. I wonder what type of character development Bell will gain in volume 12.

Yes! That was the word I was looking for to describe her emotional attachment to him: Pet

At this point in time, she doesn't have any feelings for him that approach love (note: approach, not even the slightest romantic interest). While I do enjoy a slow, gradual change of relationships, it appears that nothing of the romantic sort will occur unless Bell becomes strong enough to become a hero (and saves her, I suppose). When that happens, I theorise an abrupt change in her emotions will take place. All of this is just my two-cents, of course.

Eh, let's see how Omori goes about this.
