Story isn't novel or groundbreaking by any means, but it was extremely well executed.

Hope the budget stands up to this.

RIP the artist DUBU (real name Jang Sung-Rak)...just ouch. From the bits that have come out, it sounded like he had a very drawn out decline...

At least they lived to know it would be adapted...

The art was amazing. The plot quickly became the typical overpowered protagonist though.

That's what I've heard too.

A good number of reviews I've read of the source novel was that the story had an interesting premise and beginning, but with poor execution, flat characterisation, forgotten side characters etc. leading to a disappointing ending.

Consensus is that the main reason the webtoon got that much acclaim to start with was due to Jang Sungrak's art. I assume a lesser artist would have led to Solo's webtoon being far less memorable (which is something I've noticed with Korea's webtoon industry; sometimes you get complaints that the original novel was amazing but that the webtoon art was ass, which really diminished readers' enjoyment.)

Saw the first episode today.

Pretty good stuff at introducing some of the main characters although disks currently says it will just be 12 episodes (maybe it's a split cour or similar Tower of God case). Still, I think it was a solid start in terms of chereography, animation, and direction. Some of the scenes in the previous advertised promos were also in the first episode.

Seeing Cha being animated was a wonderful sight.

What is this some kind of fantasy crossover with that Giant Insects anime? Goes about as well for the humans. Good thing Takuma Terashima, Junya Enoki, Hiroki Tochi, and Daisuke Hirakawa showed up with some phenomenal action animation. In this world, your best bet for survival is being around a higher ranked Hunter

Because in this world, a world where gates to magic fantasy world filld with dungeons and monsters, the most lucrative job opportunities are for Hunters who are ranked from S to E...and our protagonist is, of course, E. I'm sure it'll stay that way

.

It's not all bad for Jinwoo. He may be Humanity's Weakest Hunter, but he's voiced by Taito Ban and he's got a cutie like Joohee looking after him and healing him when he gets hurt. And they seem to have something quite cute going on between them, especially when Joohee is practically asking him out

.

Thank you Makoto Furukawa and Banjo Ginga as Chairman Go for the handy exposition! Seems like the government is keen on the mana crystals in the dungeons to solve the Energy Crisis

See, it always goes wrong when you try to go deeper into an unknown situation without going through proper channels. All the girls in the group had common sense. How different would things have been if Jinwoo had not broke the tiebreaker in favor of going deeper? Though I can't blame him, he has to provide for his family. What happened to his dad though

Hunters are in high demand, especially an S-Rank hunter like Cha-Hae. Not only does she have beauty, Reina Ueda's soothing voice, and a fine behind, but she's got amazing skills that let her resolve a purse snatching with barely any effort. She's also super popular, but she doesn't seem to enjoy the attention. Good thing she can jump high and use her amazing parkour skills

.

Well, there you go! Trapped in a room with killer statues that will either behead you or vaporize you, all the while the "king" statue looks at you creepily. And the only thing keeping Jinwoo alive is his own sixth danger sense. But things still don't look good for them

just like tower of god, a good manhwa but really bad adaptation. As a fan of the manhwa it was a really bad chapter, showing the s-rank, future events and characters and the chapter being all over the place jumping scenes.

I'll watch but I don't have big expectations just like tower of god.

I guess. I can't even put into words what it is. But I have not been so thoroughly unimpressed with a first episode in quite a while. Like I can't even imagine what the manhwa would have that would impress people so much.

Maybe if I give it a few more episodes I can figure out what irks me so.

Oh, one thing I really do not like in stories is characters explaining stuff to each other that they by all rights should already know.

Or characters having internal monologues explaining their life story to the void.

There's more organic ways to do these kinds of things.

Other than that, for some reason I just felt... Nothing. Which is kind of the worst feeling to have when watching an anime.
