Not sure what to expect from this. Demon Lord Battle Royale ?

Visuals look good. Yuuki Kaji sounds good. Reina Ueda's voice is as entrancing as ever and I like her characters' design .

Sort of gets confusing on what's going on but slowly it gets on track as you connect the dots.

What a brutal death that was.

Reminded me of when I played one of the Call of Duty games, maybe Modern Warfare or Advanced Warfare, the one where the robots take over on the first stage and you get your arm and leg ripped off and almost killed.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of the story for the other heroes to see what they are like.

I don't know about this, mc is cool but the heroine doesn't convinced me. It did pick my interest the characters introduced at the end.

Spoiler for first impressions:

The animation wasn't bad, but the story itself... or rather, at this stage, the characters aren't really attractive.
Putting the male aside, the girl is a psycho that spends half of the episode being hysteric and then wants to kill the protagonist because she... doesn't like strong people. 'Kay
Then we get a teaser of the future characters in the story.

...Yeah, that's about it. Reminds me of Hametsu no Oukoku. Gore, every character is unlikeable

It is hard to follow the story of anime modeled after movie "Grand Hotel". Because the formula includes multiple protagonists, and story is skipped around. Maybe it is worth to see how it turns out.

The title Isura is confusing. Initially, I thought it was Isekai Asura. Maybe "I" means other things. The heroes of the story are called Sura(or Asura), referring to anit-Gods in Vedic scriptures. The usage of Sura also implies people who enjoy fighting. The mythology said Sura is attracted to wars. The battlefield is said to be Sura field. The derived meaning of Sura feild means overworked workplace. Anyway, Sura are having battle royal, to determine who is the real yuusha.

This is a character centric battle show. With focus shifting from character to character between each tournament.
Somewhat similar to Shuumatsu no Valkyrie.
The show also has lots of character, more so than your average Narita works.

I thought it was solid. Animation was good when it needed to be. The girl was really annoying honestly, but the swordmaster dude was a riot. Those kinds of chars can be interesting when they are a protagonist, and not a villain. The story.... well, it doesn't feel like it was nicely structured; it probably had something to do with it not having a proper setup, so it feels like you were just tossed into the story with no prep. That takes it down a notch, but the action is enough to want me to see who's next.

Anyways, uhh... So they are gonna spent single episodes introducing new characters and I guess then do a final arc where they all meet or something?
They are spending all this time introducing the world setting through narration, but this is like, 1-cour anime of a LN series that hasn't ended yet? Sounds like a real waste of effort to try and care about that.

So I think the only takeaway of this episode is that there is a Wyvern that shoots arrows.

Not much to say, I like these kind of introductory chapters but it seems it's going to take a while, maybe 6 chapters and the others 6 the huge battle?

Though despite hinting on some tournament arc, it looks like its just fighting between two sides and all of the characters we've seen fighting for one side or another

Something I appreciate about this anime is how consistent the animation is. A lot of recent anime are good in some respects but fall down terribly in others, like Iseleve.

This one really feels like the team got the time to do it properly.
