Yeah, essentially it is the CGI. I watch the episodes as soon as they come out, but the CGI irked me to no end in the beginning. They have improved on it drastically now, especially with the mouth movements, but it is a bit too little, too late.

This series is a lot of fun. I think it still has one cour left, but I do hope they renew it for more.

I'll admit it looks a little clunky at times and I question why it is even used. For me, though, it's never distracted from the action and story in the slightest bit... as a result I just kind of notice it and move on. There's very little downtime in this series; it is always ready to jump into the next conflict and keeps a high interest level with each episode.

Wow, that was an intense episode. Qiang Lei looks like she is about to enter god mode herself. However, the next episode looks like she will not be a part of that battle for some reason. I really doubt Pang Nuan will die under anyone else's hands besides Wang Qi. The whole reason Wang Qi is going back into the fight is because of Pang Nuan, although I'm surprised that Wang Qi did not sense Pang Nuan when he came to attack.

They still use it, it's just not so frequent and when they do use the 3D animation it's done better than before.

Wanq Qi doens't have supernatural senses as far as I can tell. Remember that he made sure that his forces did not go further than in view of their new command camp - that's likely to make sure he can see where Pang Nuan shows up. I imagine that Xin's unit is going to make quite a good show, but be just not good enough to finish the job. After that I think Wang Qui will show up at just the right moment to have a little duel to settle the score.

Sadly, only 7 more episodes before the anime run ends. Oh well.

The anime is at an exciting point, but so far, it feels like there is so much to go and grow. Considering how long they take for each battle campaign, I'm not sure how much progress in the story will be made in the next 7 episodes. I do wish that the series would be extended, but it looks unlikely at this point.

the anime will probably end with the conclusion to this camapign. i read the manga up to the latest chapter(chapter 326) in chinese and i can say the manga is much more epic than the anime. if anyone can wants to read the chinese translation or wants a rough summary of the manga's story so far (done by me ) can pm me for the details

Any chance they'll adapt more? I know the sales must be shitty, but my guess is this anime wasn't made with the purpose of selling. Hopefully, they will do more.

It's too bad we won't see any definitive conclusions. I wanted to see the whole of China be united, and then an epilogue explaining how Zheng became the cruel and ruthless leader who built the Great Wall, burned books, and created the mausoleum. Perhaps his loyal friend Xin is killed in battle? We may never know what makes the seemingly level headed Zheng into the tyrant First Emperor Qin Shi Huang.

Okay, maybe I was hoping for too much to begin with.

according to the manga's speed, it will probably take another 1000 chapters or so before qin even start the real unification war unless the author decides to speed up the story.

anyway, Xin is a real general in history but not a very well-known general. most of his life and story are not recorded in history so it is up to the author to use his creativity to write Xin's story. im not sure if it will be a spoiler if i post historical records about Xin here so i will not post it. if anyone is interested i can pm you the translation of 2 entries from Records of the Grand Historian(史记) about Xin.

Below is what i learnt and understood from studying China's history in the past:
Technically, Zheng didnt build the Great Wall. Portions of the Great Wall already existed before unification to defend against the nomads in the north of china. Zheng basically connected the walls of Qin, Zhao and Yan into 1 single long wall after unification.

If you guys remember Li Si, one of Lu bu wei's 4 pillars, he is actually the main reason why Zheng burned books. In order to prevent the people in the newly united China from learning different kinds of philosophy knowledge, which could lead to civil war when different ideas clash(much like how people of different religions clash today), Li Si suggested to Zheng the idea of burning books in order to ensure the above do not happen.

Zheng later years were quite different from his earlier years as he was searching for the pill of immortality. the "pill of immortality" in fact contains mercury and Zheng was gradually poisoned by it. this drove him insane and the Qin dynasty pretty much started to go downhill.

Damn, that was deep. I personally think this episode could have been much sadder if they gave some of the characters a bit more screen time and back story so we would know more about them and care about them more than we do.

Nonetheless, I still had goosebumps and tears creeping into the corner of my eyes. The first time when he faked it was cruel but at the same time relieving, but then the second time around....

im glad the anime did brought out the emotions intended in the manga. Wei Dao's death is really sad..well its the era of the warring states and ANYONE can die..so guys just umm...brace yourself...

on a semi-related topic, im interested in translating the manga from chinese to english because i think the english world is missing out on this awesome manga. however i can do nothing more than translating the text(i.e. someone need to edit the text into the pages and proofread etc.)

I wasn't aware that Xin was based on a historical figure (is it general Li Xin?). I did remember Li Si as he was a very important proponent of legalism (thus the book burning you mention as they were attempting to snuff out the one hundred schools of thought, as they were called, if I remember correctly anyways). Knowing also what fate becomes of Lu Buwei, I was curious as to how Li Si ends up becoming allied to Zheng in the series.

Zheng searching for immortality would still be quite a change in character from the one shown in the anime, moreover because records describe his search as obsessive. One legend I recall is he sent a group to sea searching for a legendary island with the secret of immortality; they ended up in Japan and decided to colonize it in fear that if they returned without the secret that "Zheng" was searching for, they would surely be executed.

Another thing is, we have to take into account the motives of those who wrote these records - mostly Han dynasty officials with some later parties that were working off of tradition that likely dated from the Han. It was in their interest to downplay the emperor so as to give their own 'new' rule legitimacy. Perhaps Zheng really was a just ruler. I'm inclined to believe he was more likely closer to the tyrant description than the anime depiction, of course, though I think it's probably somewhere in between.

Anyways, latest episode was awesome. It's really too bad we're coming to a close here. I'd definitely want to get a translation of the manga since the anime won't finish the story.

Some possible spoilers according to history and my comments...
Spoiler for spoiler according to history:

This is after all a fictitious story based on history just like Romance of the Three Kingdoms so it might not go exactly as the historical records anyway.
I did a rough summary of the manga up to the latest chapter so far so if you are interested i can send you the summary via pm.

I'd like said summary and info on Li Xin.
Sadly, the manga hasn't been translated. So, I cannot check for myself since I'm still at the state in which reading Japanese takes too much effort, and I'm feeling lazy.
