The 3rd world nations are those who are so weak that neither side didn't give a damn about them.

Post apocolyptic anime with rusty mecha and an 'american west-esque' themed plot.

Mecha are used to fight in duels, to capture resources and land etc. Then someone discovers a Gundam built before the apocolypse to serve some sort of purpose, maybe to use as a tool of some sort.

There would be a main enemy faction like the early US army which have fancy mecha and intend to wipe out the faction that the main character belongs to, and to capture the Gundam.
