Soon you won't have to worry about this particular issue, Tsun.. I mean, Rissa-sama.

Yep, got my 3 volumes in HK. Unfortunately, they didn't have volume 4 when I was there.

Er.... there's also a Korean translation of L*S that's available. However, the resultant work was so rushed that it turned out to be an abomination(there are images floating around pointing out typos and *gasp* white-out marks). The fact that the translator added *localization* didn't help either (scrapping Miyuki's keigo is a major no-no for me).

Which is kinda odd considering Daiwon isn't exactly new to the manga/light-novel scene.

Here's a photo of a paperstand given as an apology with L*S volume 2:

It does look tempting, but no. I like my Miyuki with her keigo.

Will they be re-doing L*S or are they just going to leave it at an apology?

I'd be tempted to steal those paperstands.

If done some reading over the 'Net, and it seems that they fired the old translator, but have no plans of re-releasing volume 1 (they have a new translator for volume 2, the most recent one).

The overall opinion is that the translation is a lot better, much fewer mistakes*, better print quality (no more white-outs!) but Miyuki's keigo is still gone.

* Apparently the translator doesn't know otaku culture that much. カャルゲ(Kyaruke, dating-sim character. Not sure how it is in Japanese) was transliterated as "갸루계(note: punk girl(?))." In other words, the translator had no idea what カャルゲ was and tried her best, and failed. Poor Kanata, she was demoted from dating-sim character to punk girl!

I wonder if theres any raws of the manga running around... I have vol 1-3 in Chinese but I don't feel like taking them to my scanner to scan them in fear of damaging the book by applying too much pressure to the centre... There are so many nice pictures of the gang... ooooo.

No idea what the pattern for translated releases are... but I can't imagine it lagging more than a few months (unlike we poor bastards in the US where english readers are still waiting for *someone* to license it).

Ah, actually the local anime store here has dozens of copies of that fan book. I'm probably not going to get it, but I know if I change my mind that it'll still be there..

(Kyaa! *gets thrown away* )

Dozens of copies.... argh. Well, that does up the odds that Kinokuniya might have it.

Dunno if anyone's pointed this out yet, but apparently a spinoff manga of Lucky Star is in the works, based on Lucky Channel.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-10-29/manga-to-launch-for-lucky-star-spinoff-la'cryma-game
It seems legit enough, since I've seen this on a few other websites.

Happened to be showing a friend around Uwajimaya/Kinokuniya yesterday and snapped a copy of Lucky*Star manga volume 5. (obligatory "getto!")

Looks like a fair amount of Misao goodness but that's was just a random flip check.

Snatched up vol.5 about a week ago, and I totally agree with you... Misao is love. Period.

Hopefully now that LS has been licensed, they'll translate the manga.

If you mean scanlations.... I've not seen any that are more than a chapter or two into the volumes.

I'm collecting the series (5 volumes so far) but other than my paper'n'pencil henscratches to work out some of the text - that's the extent of what I've done with it. Never tried to do a scanlation before because I hate damaging the books.

There's actually a thread about the manga in the Lucky Star subforum so your thread might end up merged with that one - just so you know
