You know, with the way Gaen looks and behaves, Chiwa Saitou would have made a good voice actor for her. It's almost a shame that she has another role in this show.

I think Nisio would have made it more obvious in the novel if Hitagi was supposed to be similar to Koyomi's mother.

However, considering how Freudian the Araragi family is, it definitely wouldn't be beyond Nisio to make a similarity.

It's rather easy to see what Izuko Gaen really is. Rather than someone who knows everything, she is the person who is very knowledgeable in manipulating one's knowledge. She's definitely a notch higher than Kaiki, Meme and Yozuru. She's probably what Tsubasa would become if she was a bit more proactive when it comes to her wealth of knowledge.

That said, the marking scene was quite sad. It's like she's going so far away and wanted Koyomi to remember her in the littlest way she can. ;_;
