The OP is amazing !!!! The ED is simple but there is Kurapika so I like it.
Pariston is the best, Mizaistom is cool too Nice to see Illumi and Hisoka. And Hanzo too
Killua passed alone in the middle of the Greed Island arc, while there were 7 who passed along with Gon, with the examiners saying this year's batch was particularly impressive. So I took that as the normal spread.

Even if an average of 20 passed in a year though, you wouldn't expect any more than 800 or so.

Yeah me I haven't any problems with the numbers of hunters. They were impressive because of the numbers of good rookies

I find it kinda hilarious that Pariston have a prefious Hisoka's VA. Also, I almost didn't recognize Akio Ohtsuka as Mizaistom, I guess I'm to used too his large ham voices.

Gon in the opening just for "You can smile?" Madhouse, you bastards! The OP was awesome btw.

Only Togashi could make an election into such a complicated affair. And we got glimpses of Pariston Hill (Heh) and Ging's awesome characters too. Love how Ging basically has everybody singing to his tune. It's going to be a fascinating arc. As arcs in Hunter x Hunter usually are. There's something for everybody in this arc.

Oh and HISOKA!!

Pariston is freaking awesome. I'm already liking this guy for just being part of this arc. Good to see Hisoka and Illumi return as well since it's been quite awhile.

I wonder if that ED song is just a placeholder for now. Shame there's no new song...

Still gives me 'final-arc' vibes even though HxH isn't over yet.

i find interesting that what was described as a hunter this episode, was the exact description of a gamer in a recent madhouse production.

I definitely liked Hisoka's the best. But and Chrollo are too lazy to actually work at Coolens selling the stock...

The ending may have been two still shots (With a little movement from Leorio at the end), but gosh were those backgrounds pretty (And they were constantly moving too) It didn't look cheap at all.

I love the ant arc and all, but I definitely associate episodes like this more with the identity of Hunter x Hunter as a series. Granted, the ant arc forms quite the chunk of the series but it's almost like it's own standalone segment of the show.

"May I put it in?" Hisoka could make the directions on a toothpaste tube sound dirty, but that's a peach of a line. Surprised he didn't save it for Gon and Killua.

Agreed. This arc gives off more of the impression of what it means to be a Hunter and the way the Association works than any of the previous arcs did.

I love how he shows up to just scope people out. Hisoka when he's serious is a scary thing, heck Hisoka when he's not serious is a scary thing. But I liked how he perked up when he heard about Gon and Killua.

It was also nice seeing some old familiar faces.

Compare the reactions of Hisoka and Ging when they were told that Gon was in critical condition. Which one is the freak, again?

It is interesting that Hisoka shows way more concern then Ging, but that probably has to do with their differing personalities. And their expectations of the characters.

Ging seems to be pretty certain that Gon will live, probably basing his assumption on the "he's my son" trope, so he's gotta be a little bit like me, and whatever he may have heard about Gon's exploits up until this point. This is the same man who told his own son that yeah come find me, but don't expect me to sit around and wait for you, heck I'll actively be running from you. He must be assuming that any person who takes him up on that offer must be pretty tenacious, or just dumb, perhaps a bit of both. And from what we've seen of Ging, him and Gon do seem to have some similar personality traits.

Hisoka on the other hand seems to have future plans for our pair, especially Gon, so if they just up and die on him their goes his unripened fruit, and any enjoyment he had planned on getting out of them. He also seems to be kind of possessive. Right after their Hunter Exam he told Illumi that he'd kill him if he put his hands on Gon. Gon was his prey, and apparently not even death is allowed to touch him, unless he's the one dishing it out. With that said it's not exactly like he couldn't find others to take their place, we know he's been following Chrollo around, and he went to the election just to scope out other hunters who might be worth his time. So in his own sick twisted way he probably does care about them, or at least what happens to them.
