Hi guys

So, is this a full fledge reboot to the franchise or is it like J and road to 2002, where half the series retells the primary days?

They already confirmed in October the second story arc of the manga will be retold (where Tsubasa and everybody else is a teenager). Whether Captain Tsubasa gains an adaptation to the third and final arc of the first manga (the France tournament) might depends on its success.

Then again, J and Road to 2002 failed to properly adapt World Youth and Road, respectively.

Man, the Meiwa vs Furano was really good animated considering it was only one episode. I liked they focused more on Hyuga and Matsuyama's wounds unlike in previous animes that reduced the violence. Also, I remember in the J anime, Furano's coach even died during the match.

It feels lonely here. We finally got to the Musashi match. I think even the manga author said Misugi was superior to Tsubasa in almost everything, but that heart disease made him weaker.

Yeah, that's what he said in the manga. But that was well before Tsubasa made strides of his own abroad.

I'm disappointed Takeshi got passed over for the ED. I wanted to hear Megumi Han sing.

Misugi is really good. Very efficient and coordinates his team extremely well. I guess facing him is a tool to show Tsubasa's growth in character.

Man, I didn't remember Misugi's condition getting so bad in old series. Also, I remember in the 80s anime, Wakabayashi was so angry at Tsubasa that he kicked him in the stomach with a ball. In Captain Tsubasa J the one who actually hit him was Misugi who instead slaps him. Wonder what happened in the manga.

Just watched episode 23, loving all the moves Meiwa's GK made and there's a new rendition of the classic song!

Season 2 already premiered in Japan. There are many new characters in every new arc more or less (or the side ones directly become more important). The new opening is sick while the ending is another remake of "Moete Hero" with the cast updated.

The new OP is Marty Friedman, isn't it?

Yes to new op and ed visuals!!! It looks like they've grown up accordingly. Tsubasa et al look a bit more mature, now being in their 3rd year of middle school. Also good to see new characters in this episode. I hope GK Morisaki will do well since Nankatsu is missing Wakabayashi

Finally watched the episode. While Tsubasa is still innocent, he sure has matured a bit due to how he acts as Nankatsu's captain and the fact he is still aiming to go to Brazil on his own.

I don't see his name in the opening credits, but he's credited for the new ED's guitar.
