She gave me the 1.7m Long High Frequency Katana, complete with elaborated sheath.

"Because ByakuShiki has no empty slot bus, you can only store it outside"

ByakuShiki made compensation once again, a makeshift sword hanger on my left side of waist to store the sheathed sword.

Chapter 7 (ICHIKA POV)

I pointed at the sliding hanger on both my shoulder blades and my hips; they can work as weapon mountings, but at severely limited degree of freedom. For example, those mounted on my back can slides forward or backward, adjusting the levitation, from firing straightforward to 90 degrees upward.

Meanwhile, the one on the waist has almost 360 degree of rotation, but unable to pivot.

"All the aiming and targeting are manually controlled; it's the same as I'm wasting my ammo" I shrugged.

"Secondly, ByakuShiki has no capability of refilling the spent ammo, and the energy pool channeled by the hanger is very little, so energy cannon is out of equation unless…nah, I'll save that one for later"

"I don't know, it's seems that Byakushiki could accept all kinds of handheld Equalizer on the four hanger claw, but unable to store or register them in the core."

"Therefore, while low-consumption energy weapon and melee weapon might just work with unlimited usage, solid-ordnance loaded firearms must be manually reloaded by the I.S. who had similar weapon, and high-energy weapon will sap my shield little by little" I said as Madoka threw me a pod full of ammunition, literally overwriting the old one.

Chapter 8 (CHIFUYU POV)

I headed to one of the factories that were responsible for the maintenance of the Byaku Shiki, I have the authority as a teacher, so I was granted access immediately.

The technicians were busy, discussing between themselves.

"I see, he also planned to create Yuki no Nanatou"

"That's a bit too…seriously, seven sword?"

"But the archiving system is completed, and his theory was right…Sanshiki was the fruit of it"

My eyes widened in surprise…Yuki-series of weapon weren't directly related to his research, why he should bother using it?

"Oh, Orimura-san, welcome"

"I heard something interesting from Armament Development section and came here to inspect"

"Well, you see that person wanted to create a new Archive Module for ByakuShiki"

"ByakuShiki's only weakness is that it has only one slot module, and that was occupied by Yukihira Nigata, and Hanger System is designed to compensate it. Even then, he predicted that those wouldn't be enough considering Orimura-kun's unpredictable ability"

It was the same, Koyuki was not stored in the slot bus…it was stored with Yukihira in combined form. The combined sword then stored in the slot bus and recognized by I.S. core as single unit.

If one can put it, Yukihira Nigata and Koyuki Ittoshiki was extracted from a single archive, [Yukihira Sanshiki].

Nanatou (Seven Sword) Module; as the name implies, is a weapon archiving system capable of storing seven swords in a single slot bus.

The downside is that the more weapons stored on a module, the harder and longer it would take to extract them. Because the archiving system became much more complex, and much more energy is needed to materialize them.

"But even with an improved power source, ByakuShiki would be too powerless to extract it. His frame is too unstable. That's not including my stupid brother's half-assed skill. At best, he can only do partial extraction, so seven swords might be too much"

I received the report from the latest update in weapons' development, but they wouldn't be too helpful in developing the next generation of weapons. While I appreciate their ideas and such, it would only remain as ideas until someone has the will to create something out of it.

However, that also brought back memories of Tabane. She was surely that type of the character right? Once she sets her mind to it, she will not back down and will settle for nothing than perfect.

That's how she developed the Infinite Stratos anyhow, although I wonder if she ever understood the consequences of her actions.

Her so-called-partner-and-rival, while rather calm and rational, has similar set of incomprehensible way of thinking… those people are just like that, everything they do is crazy enough to work.

ByakuShiki has different powerset to begin with. It has Hanger system to compensate the lack of empty slot bus. And it's not perfect compensation either. Ichika must take it from other I.S., most of the time, it's KuroGane's weapon.

Sword Module system also designed to compensate even further, and Ichika is not skilled enough to bring them all at once as far as chapter 8 (only able to bring out Yukihira Sanshiki).

It's more like Chekov's Armory, Ichika has those weapon all along, but those will come handy later.

I'm afraid nobody will realize it, and I was right.

And I think it' the rigth time to announce....

Yea, I read it. Although, I think Irish would actually snap HARSHLY at Tatenashi, which at least might serve as a minor wake up call for the prez that there is more to Irish than what meets the eye.

Why not? I'm flattered (although still embarrassed) if you use that one.

It was my thought when I put myself in CHAR's position in the locker room, I'm gonna use it as well during Char's POV later in chapter 9 (adding more HoYay, as if the Canon level not enough....).

As for Tatenashi, I fixed my argument as well. Both parties are at fault, and while Irish has too much pride and anger issues to apologize himself, he might open up a little when Tatenashi honestly apologized and trying to make up with him. D''aww moment ensues!

@ZeroXSEED and Blitz- Irish never explodes in anger, his emotional capacity has been numbed ever since his time at the camp and witnessing the only person who took care of him die because of his mistake, this is why he rarely ever screams in dialogue.

Irish and Tatenashi will work better once she apologizes to him and he starts opening up to her, of course I can't let the daww~ moment last forever so I'll have Tatenashi try hug him or something while a member of the newspaper club happens to pass by and snap a photo

One more thing. The reason Irish was able to stand Tatenashi's antics for so long was because she reminded him of Allen (his surrogate brother at the camp) due to their energetic and positive personalities. He doesn't have to scream, he just has to have a very harsh tone, that's UNLIKE his usual self. Much like how you would sense a yandere, that black aura and change in atmosphere while the girl is still smiling, but you SENSE that something's different.

A young brilliant but lazy genius with a fishing rod, camping at ISA. A engineer of CASaIO, with a machine that boost IS ability.

His purpose at ISA is unknown....

While other people ignored Tabane when she first announced IS, he is the idiot who stay behind and listen because a one-man space exploration suit is freaking awesome machine, only to have his dream shattered when people decide to use the machine for sport instead of using it for original intention.

Still holding on to a piece of his dream, he work hard to become an IS engineer in hope of seeing a Space Exploration IS. He joined CASaIO because one of his friend found a reason in CASaIO for invest in space exploring IS: To justify the reasons for spending so much money on Anti-alien weapons by proving the existences of aliens once and for all.

Unfortunately for them, the investors of CASaIO(they are a cult actually) rather invest on Anti-alien weapons than on space exploration equipment and they end up struck with the job of making Anti-alien weapons.

With his dream of space exploration utterly crushed and people keep trying to think of creative ways of using a Space exploration as weapon, he lost faith in humanity and is currently exploring the world on a self-proclaimed pilgrimage....

On a paid vacation(paid so long he get something done and submitted) because he is the only guy in CASaIO IS development team who actually knew how to upgrade Tamahagane's Equalizers without Tamahagane rejecting them. I thought of a girlyass name for him though I thought of the name Yuriko since Yuri=lily and ko=small/child which translates to small flower or lily child. It's to symbolize his somewhat "budding" nature since he'll receive a lot of character development and "grow" like a flower does. Oh! and the others will make fun of him since it can also translate to noble girl

BTW, the fact that he has a Japanese name doesn't mean he's of Japanese nationality, his mom is but his dad's nationality is unknown so he's a half breed or whatever you call it.

What do you think? Too much?

@Blitz- He does tend to speak in a harsh tone as shown in the earlier drafts where he remarks that he's Tatenashi's partner and not her friend and cursing out at her when she forced him into drag, she just didn't take it seriously at that point. Maybe I can just have him say something surprising like "I trusted you" or let him drop a single tear so she knows she's gone too far.

Interesting Idea for an OC, rarely anyone ever makes main male characters who act as support in battle rather than frontline fighter themselves. He sounds like a bunny ears lawyer just like Tabane

All of our OC's tend to be gifted or advanced for their age MeisterBabylon's is a 14 year old who fights terrorists, Darkjak's are 17 year old mercenaries, EthernalRain's is a 17 year old combat engineer, while mine is a 14 year old terrorist. Wavehawk's is an old man though The world of Infinite Stratos must be WAY darker than what we see considering all the young experts and debates that happen in this thread

Pyxis is around 19 to 20 and reason for his skill is somewhat justified as somebody who really put everything he got into a single dream. He is the just the result of Hard-work + talent.

Trivial: I named the character Pyxis for many reasons just in case you didn't know.

19-20 is still pretty young all of us justify our OC's capabilities and give them flaws in their specialties, it's what stops them from being mary sues
